    Crawford vs Molina

By this point I'm starting to see the extremes of both arguments when it comes to Crawford.

On one hand he's such a level above his opposition, and his opposition is the best in the divisions he's fighting in. He beat 3 of the bets current lightweights in the world and he's now beaten 3 of the best LWWs in the world.

But on the other, his resume is lacking that gloss. Which is daft really, it would look so much better with Matthyse and Provodnikov on it, instead he's beaten the men who dominated those two. In fact he's dominated them himself.

He's a massive talent but it doesn't see to have been proven against the highest level of opposition, even though he can't yet have fought anyone of a higher level.

Quite a contradiction but I think I agree with both view points.

    Jerry Quarry vs Ron Lyle

    1 Quarry
    2 Lyle
    3 Quarry
    4 Lyle
    5 Quarry
    6 Quarry
    7 Quarry
    8 Quarry
    9 Quarry
    10 Quarry
    11 Quarry
    12 Quarry

    118-110 Quarry

Watching fight after @scartissue recommended it to me.

Could this fight be seen as Quarry's best ever performance ? i thought he was great in this fight. Boxed so well on the inside and outside, counter punching, body punching, he showed alot of great attributes in this fight.

The fight was competitive for 6 or 7 rounds, but when Quarry almost stopped Lyle in the 8th round. I thought Quarry completely took over in the remaining rounds, punishing Lyle with a great body punching display in the 9th round. And then even doing his Muhammad Ali impression in the 12th round with some great footwork sticking and moving.

Overall a good fight and a great performance from Jerry Quarry, Ron Lyle had some moments but he was completely outboxed and out fought by Quarry.

Christophe Tiozzo v James 'The Heat' Kinchen (10 rounds)

    Round 1: 10-9 Tiozzo
    Round 2: 10-9 Tiozzo
    Round 3: 10-9 Tiozzo
    Round 4: 10-10 Even
    Round 5: 10-9 Kinchen
    Round 6: 10-9 Tiozzo
    Round 7: 10-10 Even
    Round 8: 10-9 Kinchen
    Round 9: 10-9 Kinchen
    Round 10: 10-9 Tiozzo

Total: 97-95 Tiozzo (actual scores: 98-96, 99-95 and 98-94 all for Tiozzo)

Y'know, I enjoyed this fight, but after the 3rd round it really starts to get tough to score. Tiozzo had this range on Kinchen and everything The Heat did he had to reach for it and would get popped by Tiozzo for his trouble. After the 3rd Kinchen put more pressure on Tiozzo and I think if he had worked the body it would have paid dividends for him down the stretch. But it is what it is. Again, a decent fight, but you'll have to find your own happy medium between Kinchen's harder shots and Tiozzo's jarring shots from range.

    Crawford vs Indongo

A historic fight as its a 4 belt unification. But as historic as it was, it was very short and sweet as Crawford dominated the fight and knocked Indongo out in 3 rounds.

Dropped in the second with a head shot. Stopped him in the third with a body shot.

    Crawford vs Horn

After clearing out two divisions Crawford moves up into the glamour WW division.

First up is the man who rightly or wrongly wrestled the belt from Pacquiao in a rough bruising performance.

Crawford was much too solid and accurate as he consistently beat Horn to the punch and landed clean shots all night.

The ending was inevitable when it came, Horn is dropped in the 9th and then in the follow up assault the fight is waved off.

    Crawford vs Khan

We're into the period now where fans are demanding Crawford steps up his opposition.

    This isn't that.

Khan actually boxed really well in the first until he was caught and dropped, I had him winning the round until then.

In the 2nd and 3rd Khan again boxed well and the fight seemed very competitive, those rounds were tough to score.

But in the 4th Crawford turned from boxer to aggressor and Khan couldn't disuade him. Crawford pushed him back and walked him down time and time again.

The ending, wasn't a good look for Khan. A borderline body shot and he said he couldn't continue hoping for the DQ, it never came and instead the fight was waved off.

Sour end to an admirable performance.

Crawford was absolutely amazing in this one. Just beat up and battered a bigger man pillar to post.

James "The Heat" Kinchen v Iran "The Blade" Barkley 10 Rounds

Kitchen came into the fight with a 36-1-2 record. His only loss was a 12 round split decision to James Shuler. Barkley was on tje rise and came in with a 19-3 record. The fight was scored using the 10 point must system.

Round 1 - 10-9 Barkley - The Blade came out as he always did, ready to throw leather. He was more active and connected with better punches.

Round 2 - 10-9 Kinchen - Kinchen was able to get inside more often and landed well. Barkley was wild with both hooks and uppercuts.

Round 3 - 10-9 Barkley - The Blade started strong and did enough to win the round. I'd forgotten that Barkley threw every punch hard.

Round 4 - 10-9 Kinchen - Barkley hurt Kinchen early but couldn't hold the advantage. Kinchen landed quite a few solid punches the rest of the way.

Round 5 - 10-9 Kinchen - Very close round and I would have no problem with anyone scoring it for Barkley.

Round 6 - 10-9 Kinchen - The Heat worked well on the inside to take the round,

Round 7 - 10-9 Kinchen - The grueling pace has both men looked tired. Kinchen was a bit more effective.

Round 8 - 10-9 Kinchen - The whole round was fought on the inside and Kinchen was just a bit more effective.

Round 9 - 10-8 Barkley - A beautiful right hand lead sent Kinchen down about two minutes into the round. Kinchen survived the rest of the way but looked a bit wobbly.

Round 10 - 10-9 Barkley - Good work by both men with the advantage going to Barkley.

My score 95-94 Kinchen. The actual scores were 96-93 and 95-94 for Barkley and 97-93 for Kinchen. As with most Barkley fights this was a good one to watch and a tough one to score.

Fogger, I had it 97-95 Barkley, but a very tight fight, which could have gone either way. I agree, a decent fight.

Barkley by two points is perfectly reasonable. If I'm being honest, the hardest fights for me to score are those with a lot of infighting. This fight had a ton of it.

Guys who have a lot of offense but no defense are always hard to score — Troy Dorsey being a different sort who fits the same mold.

The other thing that’s hard to score is guys who fight in spurts (vs. someone who keeps steady for three minutes).

All I know is nobody left an Iran Barkley fight asking for their money back.

That is the truth. Iran Barkley always gave it everything.

Thats how i had it when i watched this fight few weeks ago, i thought Barkley pulled it out in the last 2 rounds. Seems like the only round we differed on was the 5th.

    Crawford vs Brook

Much like the Khan fight, Brook starts off well and is seemingly getting the better of the chess match.

But Crawford ups the intensity and Brook begins to fall apart.

The end is shocking though, Crawford catches Brook, in the 4th with a jab, a jab that seems to completely take the wind out of Brooks sails. He is given a standing 8 count and then waved off during the follow up.

Not an easy fight to score, given one judge gave Barkley just two rounds. Too bad we don't have access to the judges round-by-round scoring.
