Foreman didn't have to do anything. Unlike Ali, his level did not decrease, he was roughly still the same boxer. And yes, Lyle almost had him, but Ali is no Lyle to be able to trade blow for blow. Young also was younger than Ali and had the legs to stay away from Foreman the whole night. Ali couldn't even do that in 74, that's why he had to resort to laying on the ropes until Foreman gassed out. So what is Ali gonna resort to on 76, given that Foreman won't be dumb to fall for the same trick again ?!?
Nobody said he is. Prime vs prime, Ali clearly has the stylistic edge and would win every single time. But an old Ali, who cannot trick Foreman. No way.
"Even" old George struggled with movers? He was in hid mid 40's then & heavy with a completely different style. Ali was surprised at how fast Foreman moved-on a soft ring bad for movers. You cannot use an ancient Foreman who was built very differently & use this as an example of a man who retired at 28 & was great at cutting off the ring.
I had Foreman winning against Schulz, because he landed the harder and more clear punches. But it was my second boxing boxing fight I watched (apart of Bud Spencer movies like The Bomber).
Of course, I also know the story of a glass of water. By not watching Muhammad Ali Vs George Foreman 2 fight, boxing fans were denied; as well as not watching the fights: Lewis - Bowe Tyson - Bowe Klitschko brothers - Valuev AJ - Tyson Fury AJ - Wilder... and many, many more.
Okay. All of the referees and judges were bought off then? Then it stands to reason that they could be bought again in a Foreman fight, and then I'm back to an Ali win by decision. Are we having fun yet?
You can go to boxrec and see UPI and AP scoring for the Norton and Shavers fights. For the Norton fight UPI had it 8-7 Norton and AP had it 9-6 Ali. For the Shavers fight UPI had it 8-6-1 Ali and AP had it 10 -5 Ali. I would note they had reporters at ringside. As to Ali quitting he is on the record as saying I would never let Joe say I quit plus he was dominating him badly in the thirteenth and fourteenth round. It was the first time in fourty one rounds he had Joe legitimately backing up. I would add Harold Lederman was one of the judges for the Norton fight. He stood by that decision until the day he died
You should bring that to the attention of boxrec and have them add your scorecard to their synopsis of the fight.
Watch the video yourself and you will see I am right. I've even put up my scorecards on a thread regarding this fight.
