Dunno where the idea that Ennis is markedly larger than Clayton is coming from. Ennis is only about an inch taller, though he has about a four inch reach advantage. Plus, Clayton's the one who has spent more time at junior middle and middleweight in fights. There's regional bias on my part, but viewing this through as objective lens as possible, I'm still thinking more and more that this might be something of a trap fight for Boots. Clayton's slick, defensively sound, has good timing, and is a pretty sturdy guy. He tends to start slowly, but I don't see him getting blown out early by virtue of his defense and composure, and I do see him coming on as the fight progresses, since that's generally what he does in most of his fights. He's a very good second half fighter. Boots better be on point and tighten up his D, because if he doesn't, he's in a for a long and unpleasant evening.
I actually starting to think won't think Ennis will look good in this fight. He gets way too overconfident and these new fanboys will boost his ego even more. Ennis is becoming too hyped and it's disappointing considering the hype is coming from these new fans that saw him against Lipinets and Dulorme. He'll underestimate Clayton and get taken into the late rounds. Clayton will also have the speed advantage. This is actually a fight i plan on watching. Its a style Ennis has never seen before and he could struggle. but if Ennis's ring iq is truly what i believe it is. He should thoroughly outbox this guy and do it comfortably considering Ennis has more trouble with relentless pressure
In truth, Ennis is really no bigger than Spence or Ortiz Jr. He's a welterweight in this day and age, go and find another reason to irrationally hate him.
Thing is, Clayton's IQ is pretty good, too. Plus, he's also operated as a pressure fighter in the past. One that doesn't neglect defense or anything, but someone who can come forward and cut off the ring. This should be a fun, interesting, and competitive contest.
huge fan of ennis and i think hes the future star of the division but i can't root against my canadian custio... worried hes gonna get hurt though
You're an alt one post who joins to post this nonsense. No he isn't both are 5'10 and big for 147. Do you know what "way bigger" is? He's way bigger than pac for example both ennis and Ortiz are. You don't have a clue if you think Ortiz is an average sized WW and ennis is way bigger than him.
When Ennis blows through this guy we’ll hear the same things we always hear. “Wait until he fights the elite guys.” There’s 3 guys that can possibly beat this man at 47. Bud. Spence. Vergil. That’s the whole list. Tho Porter would also be a fun one to watch.
Clayton is solid. Ennis is absolute top tier. His speed and power will immediately have Clayton shelling up.
