I actually think it’s gone full circle. The casuals used to hang on to every word Eddie says and the hardcore preferred other fights. Now the casuals are talking about how Khan v Brook was a great fight and Eddie is making fights like Chocolatito v Martinez which is aimed at the hardcore. Mad world this boxing.

Conclusion - the casuals are in fact Sky FC and not Matchroom FC.

 

Of course. Had Eddie Hearn had Khan vs Brook there would have been no limits to how amazing a fight it is.

I remember when Frank Warren arranged Tony Bellew vs Nathan Cleverly. It was not a particularly big fight according to Eddie Hearn. Then they both had big fights where they both lost convincingly and then Eddie Hearn arranged a rematch between Bellew and Cleverly and then suddenly it was the English version of Hagler vs Hearns.

He won’t lose sleep. But he is aware 3/4 years ago it was inconceivable that a fight of this magnitude (in terms of resonating with the casual fan) would be delivered outside of Matchroom

Then you have Arum who has some kind of brain dysphoria with regard to anyone he doesn't promote.

I'm sure Hearn was pretty damned salty about last night and he has had a pretty bad run of things of late but, that's just the nature of the business and he'll have plenty more ups and downs in the future I'm sure.

 

Agreed but, I think the boxing scene in the UK will benefit as a result of the Matchroom monopoly being broken. It was a pretty dull undercard last night although Jonas and Brook V Khan we're worth the wait and the overall event was pretty good.

I've always been appreciative of Hearn and what he's done for UK boxing but, I'm glad he's not having it all his own way.
