Obviously no one had heard of or seen Calzaghe prior to Warren moving to ITV from SKY.

Back in 2004 we all closed our eyes and put our hands over our ears whenever we accidentally found ourselves on a little known channel called SKY Sports.

OK. Bambi on ice then. AGAHAHAAHA.

Look meng, Hatton and Hamed had better careers than Khan. Will always be viewed highly and adored by British public than KHAN. It's just the way it is...

Ever heard of SKY Sports? Most of us who were out of their teens were watching prime time boxing on there rather than jerking off in to their socks and watching Calzaghe fight on VHS later in the morning.

There's a difference between PAID subscription to Sky Sports and FREE to watch ITV.

Where are you going to get more exposure?

The lad is clearly pushing a narrative.

The idea that Khan "made" Calzaghe is patently hilarious. Let him run with this, I wanna see where this goes.

ITV. I'd rather more boxing was on terrestial TV but to try and suggest that we were all watching boxing on Movies4men at 2am or Bravo back in 2004 and it was only when Khan came along we got see any fights is nonsense.

Warren's contract ended with SKY. He signed a two year deal with ITV and then he went back to SKY two years later.

If you're suggesting that Khan resulted in boxing moving to ITV then you are also presumably suggesting that boxing moving off there was a result of him getting bambi'd by pillow fisters like Willie Limond.

Calzaghe was "made" by his dominant performance against Lacy on ITV. Before that, his exposure was limited due to him being on Sky Sports. Being on ITV boosted it is all.

ITV decided to cash in on Khan's momentum after the Olympics and picked up free-to-air boxing again after the BBC couldnt be bothered.

One thing led to another. Khan didnt "make Calzaghe", but the network ITV did and that only happened for the above reasons.

    Are people deliberately being obtuse?

I thought you made some very interesting points, I never thought about it like that, but I think you make a very important point that Khan has done wonders for British boxing and that he deserves more credit and less hate for what he's accomplished in his career.

I've been following Khan's career closely, I'm a definite fan of the guy, he's a class act, a true gentleman and he's given us so many incredible nights of boxing. As disappointed as I am in his performance against Kell, it's only because I know how good he is and how capable he was of performing better on the night. So I think you make a ton of great points about Khan, and helping pave the way for Calzaghe to get exposure and all that. And it's humorous to think about that in the way you put it. No ones ever really made those parallels before. But good on you for talking about how much Khan has done for British boxing and how that in effect helped Calzaghe take his career to new heights.

Khan’s performance yesterday was embarrassing after all his pre fight boasts and claims.

Ironically Calzaghe V Lacy was the actual fight that was on at 2am. I doubt he got any more exposure for this fight than on SKY.

The big difference was he was the underdog against someone highly rated and he brutalised him.

ITV or SKY Sports he was "made" by his performance not the TV channel.

Lmfao! Wishful thinking at best. Pbf would've clowned that dude man. Especially in the mid rounds when he figured him completely out.
