He was on shaky legs the entire fight. Desperate times yet again, countless times we've seen him like that. can't think of any fighters from this country of any decent level that had that poor punch resistance. It's really unbelievable.
Most boxers have strength and weakness’s Khan didn’t do too badly with this vulnerability in the amateurs and pros. If there was a remedy, I would have thought that the vast amount of trainers, advisers etc would have suggested it. Given that there obviously is no remedy, Khan should receive praise rather than criticism for what he has achieved with his career.
When you have a chin like that you have to be as close to 100% as possible conditioning and leg strength wise to offset it. You still get hurt but your recovery level is better and your legs are more solid. It's why he was at his best during the roach + ariza shakes era. Last night was him with a few month camp trying to offset 3 years off = shaky legs from the start. He was no where near being at world class level. Plus the gym he was at seemed to be more into the old school boxing conditioning, which isn't enough for a fragile fighter like him. It's strange as he must have realised his state during sparring.
Doubt he'd have done much sparring in all honestly; coming back after a long lay off, long past his best and having been on the receiving end of a lot of big punches. I don't think he's lived the life at all over the past three years and this was always one last payday for him. Agree with you on the Roach/Ariza era.
He was still very quick..... but he was throwing from too far out of range and regularly missing with the shots. His legs, judgement of distance and timing were just completely gone. Freddie Roach said years ago his legs were shot
Going by the short clips we seen of him sparring his sparring partner may as well have been a heavy bag.... didn't throw any shots
Whats always struck me about Khan and made me laugh a bit is for a geezer who is so chinny hes always brave, like he at times gets a macho head on him like he can take serious whacks all night long and of course he cant And the way he used to spar sometimes....
Good point!! When talking about fragile British mandibles, Fraudley should NEVER be left out of the discussion. He is the GOAT of mandibular fragility!
