Any promoter giving Byrd the chance to fight should be charged with attempted murder.

Plenty of people gain 30 or more pounds without steroids. Boxers did it before steroids[/QUOTE]

They don't gain it virtually overnight. 30 lbs is over 15% bodymass for Byrd.

It's called getting fat, and isn't very hard.

Byrd was not fat. He had a lot of muscle.

You can clearly see he was carrying a lot of fat, and this was when he'd been at heavyweight for a couple years.

The only reason Byrd "won" that fight is because Vitali injured his rotator cuff so badly he had to quit.

Tis true... The reason he injured his shoulder was because Chris made him swing and miss over extending his arm. Just like the Lewis fight, the cut which came at a rescuing point for Lennox Lewis , was similiar, it was because of lennoxes powerful punches that opened that cut. I'm not saying Lewis was winning the fight by a large margin, because that's just part of the game, losing or winning by points, unless it's dead even then it's either one or the two. But the legendary night for Chris coming into Vitalis backyard as a replacement, coming up from middleweight! Tell me there is nothing sweeter then winning the heavyweight crown. At this point in his career, no injuries, no psychosis, just a promising looking future... Better times than wtf he's going through now with all due respect (post career).

It was a celebration when he beat Vitali, him and Tracy, the money, man a MIDDLE WEIGHT what a Cinderella story, a w is a w. I love watching Chris, just not at 51 with neuropathy beginning in his foot, suspected roid abuse problems, broke up from wifey, children scarred from him, etc etc. The guy was a legend reduced to pain killers.

Those were happier times for Byrd back then.

Yikes. I was never a fan of his. I always thought he was a PED cheat, given how fast he blew up and how quickly he shrunk near the end.

But he just looks physically destroyed. He can barely hit a heavy bag. I don't know how that guy could pass a physical. Almost looks like he has palsy. The promoter has no soul.

Reading about all the mental and physical issues he's had, he's in phenomal shape all things considered.

He really shouldn't be having a comback though.

Steroids were in widespread use as early as the 1940's.
