Young fought nothing like Douglas. He didn't have the size, strength, power or offense. Also, you're picking Mike on one of his worst nights for a fight he didn't train hard for.

No. He wouldn't. Unless you means post 80s Tyson?

He'd last the distance but lose a UD to 80s Mike, and quite possibly Ruddock Mike.

He takes a UD over post-prison Mike.

I barely could remember the post you were quoting. I reread it and the context, it didn’t imply that Young fought like Douglas or that he needed to.

Mike’s worst night? Mike was sufficiently prepared and conditioned to still win - his potentials against the Douglas that turned up were simply overrated. Some might rate Mike’s best night as being the Spinks fight without considering that it was possibly Spinks’ worst night due to his being petrified and an overblown LH atop that.

Jimmy Young would at best go like this:

    That's how I voted. 8 -12 rounds.
However, let's compare the contender and the champion.

Jimmy Young was an excellent, elusive boxer with a good chin. But more importantly, he knew how to hold. I think he goes the distance with Tyson. Hell, I think he's even got a chance of winning.

Huge difference is that he did not have the physical strength like Tucker, Smith or Green to hang on for his life .. Tyson's speed makes him a far different opponent for Young than a Foreman or Lyle .. I see this more like a Tyson Tucker or maybe a Mathis Jr .. Mike would catch him and stop him .. Young was a cutie with skill but lacked power to hold Mike off .. this is assuming the prime Tyson ..

Young's style is interminable, his defense is unenjoyable, and he's just obnoxious. He wants Tyson's time. He wants to eat his marketability. Say no to in-ring violence.

Cooney was actually 238 lb when he faced Spinks. Gerry was also less than ideally active career wise and gun shy during the fight. Of course Holmes was well past his best but arguably won the rematch and still hurt Spinks badly with a single, later round punch. In a nut shell, Spinks wasn’t a natural HW, had some good wins against compromised “name”opponents but didn’t have much exposure to the division otherwise before facing Tyson. Michael only ranged from about 199 lb v Holmes first time around to about 212 max. v Tyson, his last fight.
