Ken Norton generally thrived against technical boxers. His first fight with Ali is what brought him to the dance. Since then, he's had a reputation of having technical, outside-fighters number. Which technical boxer(s) do you think have the best chance of beating Norton?

I didn't want to put boxers he already fought, but Prime Holmes struggled to beat a faded Norton.

Every time I have scored Holmes - Norton, I have it about 10-5 for Holmes. Always thought Holmes won handily and that Norton got the benefit of the doubt from the judges since he was the better known fighter at the time.

Tbh, none I can think of, but he was far more confident & formidable fighting them, than when he was fighting punchers.

I was thinking the same, I know he's better against a particular type yet all his fights against them are close calls in Ali 2 & 3, Young and Holmes.
Perhaps if he had all this fights in the first half of the 70s we'd have a better idea.

Voted Schmeling though as he could box but also bang and Norton's chin is worse than Louis'

Fair analysis - although Norton was faded. My point is that Norton was generally bad for boxers with not much power. If you couldn't hurt Norton - he was a serious problem.

Although the idea of the thread appears to be looking for someone to ‘out box’ Norton, I think Walcott had enough power and is unorthodox enough to get to Norton.
