Why are Lennox Lewis losses to mediocre opposition swept under the rug?

They way people talk about Lennox Lewis you would think he is this unbeatable monster that only fought prime fighters and starched them all inside 4 rounds (he didnt)

They are even going as far as to say he is the greatest of all time but always fail to mention his losses. Why do people pretend like Lewis didn’t get sparked out by two mediocre opponents?

That said the question is reasonable.

I don't think the losses are "swept under the carpet'.

Lots of Lewis H2H threads include speculation about his chin and acknowledge the fact that he could blow hot and cold.

Lewis did avenge both losses and otherwise fought a who's who of fighters during his era. His success against that field means that he is rightfully highly regarded.

They were a step above mediocre. They were both fine contenders. Not all time or anything but just as good as most.

Yeah, I'd like the OP to find a Lewis thread where his losses aren't mentioned.

Tomorrow's thread: "Nobody talks about the fact that people constantly post threads about how nobody talks about things."

I don't think that they are.

They are the most common criticism of him.

Lewis was mentioned plenty when the TS was to imagine him at his very best. When his worst performances still pop up you know they don't get forgotten.

He avenged the losses, that's why. Any HW can KO any much better HW on any given night. He got caught twice and made things right both times.

He avenged the losses but both opponents came in with terrible strategies. McCall started crying in the ring. Has he ever cleared up why he was bursting into tears during the fight? Rahman came in with one of the worst strategies - fully extending his arms when Lewis threw punches. I remember the trainer in the corner telling him to keep doing that and that Lewis couldn't hit him when he did it. I have no idea what they were thinking because it was obvious that Lewis was going to be able to take his time and land the cleanest punch to the chin of Rahman due to Rahman having absolutely no defense. If you look at the punch, Lewis gives himself a little headstart to get maximum power into the shot. I still have no idea how they came up with that strategy and I think it has to go down as the dumbest strategy of all time. Rahman was able to compete with Lewis in the jab department and could have had success if he got aggressive and didn't just stand there with no defense with his arms stretched out. McCall obviously came into the fight in some kind of strange condition. If he was fit and ready, he certainly had the chin to last in there and who knows what could have happened. He was willing to exchange punches vs Lewis in their first fight.

Credit to Lewis for getting the wins but he might as well have just had walkover fights because both opponents showed some terrible stuff in there in the rematches.
