Boxer you think needs a good movie?

I'm surprised I haven't seen one reply about a well produced Mike Tyson movie.

 

He has a gym in Fort Worth, Texas, University of Hard Knocks, or something similar. One of his amateurs won a national title earlier this year, or late last year. German Torres? I think it was.

It would probably bomb. The 1995 version was nice, had serious potential.

 

The point is that BHOP's life and career is remarkable. Most folks nowadays don't know who the hell Sugar Ray Robinson was but Ragung Bull is still an amazing film.

 

What about Molineaux? It fits with a lot of contemporary concerns. It's already been turned into an epistolary novel once (by the guy who wrote the 3 Musketeers screenplay, albeit back in the 70s), so it apparently has potential as a marketable story. You've got twists, turns, skulduggery, and controversy galore. Bareknuckle, and therefore violent enough for modern audiences' tastes.

Plus, the Jane Austen period piece costumes that might even draw some female audience in for a greater box office success.

 

The Man, the Myth, the Legend: The Charlie Zelenoff Story.

 

I don't think any current actors could really embody the role. He'd have to play himself.

 

I would love a Joe Gans movie but the ending would make me cry.

 

Jack Johnson for sure. I think its about time to go public with this as seen thru Johnson's eyes

this would be a real inspiration or today's youth

 

Been done buddy, out in the early 70s James Earl Jones played the lead, and a good job he made of it. stay safe.

 

James Earl Jones played him in the Great White Hope and was riveting.

The roaring 20s, drinking and gambling, womanising, 7 wifes, rubbing shoulders with the likes of Machine Jack Mcgurn, Al Capone, fighting and carousing with Greb, won and lost about 3M, became a writer and artist, found in the gutter when an old man, with amnesia, alzheimer's, and parkinson's, nursed back to fairly good health, then spent his last years in a nursing home, follow that.... stay safe buddy.
