Who ranks higher as a heavyweight? Sonny Liston or Mike Tyson?

Seldon and Bruno's careers combined are not as good as Patterson's. Not sure why weight is relevant. Bruno was one big baby with a weak chin and an easy target for Tyson if you want to go there. Seldon made zero effort, literally just dove to the canvas. Patterson took his beating like a man despite being scared and actually wanted a 3rd fight.

Patterson didn't take a dive against Ali lol where on Earth did you get that idea?

Liston quit vs Ali, Tyson had the bite of the century. Both have equally terrible losses. You can't possibly bash one and overlook the other.

 

I am not interfering with any opinion, but one quit against quite possibly the greatest heavyweight of all time, the other quit against Holyfield, who is a beast in his own right.

 

Foreman vacated the title to avoid Tucker. Tucker lost to Seldon. As much as it hurts your feelings, Seldon was the most legitimate champion there.

McCall beat Lewis and defended against Holmes. Bruno beat McCall. Go cry about it.

Tyson won titles and beat Golota in the second half of his career whereas Liston beat a bunch of bums. I dont follow.

 

No he bit him because doing that was his way out.

Holyfield did fight physically and rough, he did use illegal tactics that should of cost him a rd or two. But as the old trainers used to say, it's part of the game. If a opponent is fighting rough with you, fight rough against them, they will get the hint.
Tyson bit off Holyfields ear. That could've been a definitive warning to Holyfield about his using dirty tactics, and what would happen if it continued.
But he did it again after losing points for the 1st bite and being warned if it happened again hed be DQ'ed. He did it again. He was simply looking for away out sub consciously.
He found it.
If this was a one off incident, like Duran's no Mas it could be seen as a moments lack of judgment.
But Tyson had many incidents of suspect behavior in fights when he became frustrated even in some he won.
The typical bully behavior.
Liston did quit twice against Ali. But the circumstances were very different. And of course Ali would prove to be the greatest heavyweight in history. And the most uniquely skilled.

 

Doesn't change the fact that Seldon put out a," non effort ," [and that's being polite about it ] against Tyson. Why the uneccesary churlishness?

Okay but comparing Tyson's latter career with Liston's loss to Martin is by no means a level playing field is it Liston was an old man then.
