I like Andre Ward as a commentator, but never like his scoring. I think he gives the A-side a 3 round edge up front.

Why didn't Catterall press the action after scoring a kd? Showed very poor judgement at that point, I thought.

Taylor looked hurt, but Catterall didn't bother testing him out. Fighters who don't go for it in those circumstances or at least turn it up a couple of notches to assess how much the other guy has left are asking for trouble.

He asked for trouble & received it. Anyone who thought Catterall swept all the early rounds is as stupid as the British commentators who couldn't fathom the possibility that the judges may have been inclined to award some of them to the defending Undisputed champ fighting in his own backyard.

Taylor looked pretty ordinary but gets credit from me for pressing forwards throughout, sticking to the job at hand when things weren't going his way & ultimately, salvaging the belts.

Taylor should campaign at welter from now on. Catterall should be at the front of the queue to fight for a vacant belt.

No need he won but if it’s a big money fight we will revisit it.

Loads of casuals tuned into this fight tonight. Not a good look for the sport . A great fight and great performance ruined.

My gut feeing, and I'm being totally honest here, was formed out of lots of factors which combined

His body language was just off all throughout the build up, coming back from injury, coming back from covid, blowing up in weight after the injury and looking huge, way bigger than usual, seeing him sporting nasty shiners from sparring (two albeit one was much worse than the other), and this was all before the weigh in where he looked skeletal and deathly ill. And when I saw how tense he looked during his ring walk, and I picked up on it right away ala AJ vs Fat Andy I, the alarm bells went off. I should listen to my gut everytime because there has been an awful lot of things I've thought but not said on here which have come to pass

73 to 120 isn't two to one. That's great... now which rounds did he outland him in? Let's see the punch stats.

Sometimes quality over quantity is a thing. The first three they were separated by 2, 2 and 3 punches. Yet the fourth, which most people on here gave to Taylor, Catterall outlanded him by 5. Now why did they see fit to give that round to Taylor? Because he landed the better shots. SO the idea that Josh also landed the better shots in 2 and 3 isn't remotely egregious view to hold.

Clearly Jack won 1, 5, 6 and 8. But again, the 7th could go either way. Then the last 4, almost everyone thought Taylor nicked.

I'm kind of glad I wasn't paying attention to the lead up and even managed to miss the weigh in... and went in cold today. Otherwise, I'd have probably shared your take. Because you and I are usually simpatico and pick on on the same tells. I certainly did during the AJ-Ruiz ringwalk, and that was already after I picked Ruiz to KO him in 7. I felt it during the Wlad-Fury ring walk as well. But like you, sometimes I cross my fingers and keep my mouth shut, hope for the best.

He did abandon his boxing but you know damn well that was a shell of him tonight. It's not even debatable everything was way off and he was flat as hell.

I scored it for Catterall not JT. That's me being honest.

I really don't my standards are so high that even when I'm having an off day most still hurt their neck looking up at me

Taylor will move to 147 now and immediately vacate so Catterall will win some of those belts going forward .. and his stock has gone through the roof here so that's a positive… He'll definitely be a world champion and should've been one tonight… Hope he doesn't let this **** with him like some fighters do .. imagine if he'd of got the decision and got Taylor on his record officially .. that would be one of the best wins in boxing currently.. I had a feeling Catterall would give him fits… And I warmed to him in the buildup as well as he was conducting himself with class and restraint unlike Taylor ..

For sure, I said to myself at the ring walk that he didn't look his usual cold self - he looked tense and on edge; i just attributed that to the pressure of the Hydro and the fans, but it took him a long time to relax - if he really did which I'm not sure - and by that time I had Catterall well up.

I think folks saying JT was exposed are maybe being a bit premature, given Catterall showed he had another level in him and was slippery as hell, adding to Taylor's tension/frustration.

But IMO Taylor needs to get shot of Davidson, I think he has regressed under him, and his advice in the corner was **** poor IMO. Not a patch on McGuigan who worked great with Josh

 We need to go with our gut more. I pick up on fear, nerves, and when there's just something not right or something off in the air immediately.
