Judges should be called to explain their actions

I don’t mean to use hyperbole here but a judge scoring that fight 8-4 Taylor is on par with 10-2 Canelo.

How?

But it was an Englishman on the unfortunate end of the controversy yesterday evening, instead of a Mexican, so maybe he'll feel differently on this occasion, I cannot say.

 

It wasn't just drunk fans though lol, it was also the people commentating on it, as well as other boxers and professionals.

So an English judge (Ian John-Lewis) went against an English boxer and awarded the fight to a Scottish boxer.....cant happen like that in many controversial decisions

 

As was the case with Ritson-Vazquez.

Close fights will always have mixed reactions, and mixed reactions mostly influenced by emotions/fanboyism.

Try to explain that to the average bumpkin though.

 

The sanctioning bodies should all step in and declare the result a no contest,Catteral does not deserve a loss on his record and Taylor certainly does not deserve the WIN on his record . jmo

 

I understand the 113-112 JT card, its how i saw it. Ward had it 104-102 at the end of the 11th, i thought that was a bit off as well; i didnt see his final card but i gave the 12th to JT so if ward did the same it would be 114-111 (like the other judge). But in reality that 114-111 score is impossible in favor of JT. In fact it could swing to a wide win for Jack but i saw some of the closer rounds eeked out by josh due to pressure and ring generalship. But 113-112 is the most you give to josh. 113-112 to jack also makes just as much sense as a wide win for jack as well. Either way, i cannot agree at all with that horrible 114-111 card from the other judge.

 

Taylor landed 73 punches in 12 rounds was knocked down and had a point deducted while Catterall landed 165. and threw a 100 more. That sound like effective pressure and ring generalship?

 

Unfortunately, boxing is scored round by round. Jack wasnt the same after round 8 and fought in spurts.

There are times I wish this would happen. This was a robbery IMO but I'm not sure it reaches the level of deserving an NC. Some people here with no great agenda thought Taylor nicked it (I disagree, but they exist).

I believe that Ward tries to prepare the audience for the robbery, he usually favors the house guy right up to the outside edge of plausibility (and beyond sometimes). He comes close to saying this from time to time.

Either that or he's a very eccentric scorer. A lot of fighters are for some reason.

That was crazy. The ref took one point for nothing and another point for a tap at the end of the round, but nothing for there being more holds than punches.
