Roy Jones Jr. or Manny Pacquiao, who was more talented?

A fat as **** toney is far from an amazing win, as I said before, not just fat like he was at CW and HW, but fat and having to cut huge amounts of weight to make the limit. The griffin fight was very close and it just showed how out of shape toney was that he had a fight like that with a C level fighter like griffin

 

better in his prime bc he can crushed.. WOW

Crawford, Floyd, Ennis, BenavideZ, Ray Leonard, Hearns, Pernell, and Oscar are/were more talented than Roy imo

Manny Pacquiao was more talented than Roy Jones.

HIs fighting at welterweight against bigger men is the equivalent of Jones fighting at heavyweight.

Jones beat only one paper title holder (the weakest), John Ruiz. Manny beat many good welterweights and even scared Mayweather into a temporary retirement.

 

Roy was pretty awesome in his prime. He just fought a lot of bad fighters too at the same time.

SInce all the roy jones threads recently in the forum, a couple of weeks ago I was bored and I rewatched roy jones vs toney.

Ok, it is not only that roy jones talent is off the chart, is that his boxing IQ is off the chart too. This guy at his prime was an absolute unwinable beast. He dismantled one of the best phillyshells ever like nothing, making it look like izi pizi. Ridiculous fighter at his prime.

You see the #1 p4p today (who is a hell of a figther) strugling vs Plant's poor man's phillyshell.... and then you realize that roy jones is completely unique. One of a kind, maybe not the best (or yes, who cares?), but we will all die without watching another fighter like him. And if we dont, then we are lucky as ****.

I repeat that the way he dismantled toney's philly is genius level of boxing IQ.

 

I would say as an 80s baby there were 3 predominant faces in boxing at the top talent, since: Tyson: his greatest hits were the definition of power, then came Roy, he picked up after Tyson let off, and his greatest hits were the definition of speed. So you had Tyson, rjj, then Manny Pacquiao, an amazing specimen who catapulted into the game the night of Lewis vs Tyson is on. After Roy, Pacquiao did his thing.

Without roach he's nothing, roach probably needed Manny just as much. You can see the development of a great fighter in Pacquiao after the Erik Morales 1 loss. He looked continually better and improving every time out after that outing. To put it simple he looked sensational.

His footwork and handspeed alike were already talked about sooner, the way the little man used depth perception like the great Ali, in and out, able to close the gap for offense and stay away for defense. Even bigger fighters couldn't find him at the end of their punches. He screwed up their depth perception.

I guess it's fair to say Manny put in his one thousand hours to become a master in the ring. Correct me if I'm wrong. Three great icons in the sport, Mike, Roy, and Manny, having different terms or legacies each. I think Manny was my favorite career to watch out of all three .
