How good was Victor Ortiz in his Prime and how do you think he'd do today?

He'd definitely beat guys like Kudratillo, Crowley, Avanesyan and Hooker but he'd get ko'd by the top guys like Vergil, Spence and Thurman

Mayweather was working him prior to the headbutt/KO, and I don't mean just potshotting, but walking him down and putting punches together. Didn't take him long to pick up his offense and get his combinations going against Ortiz.

Really don't know why people think Ortiz was doing well, he was swinging and missing more than a Karen's handbag. Mayweather was much more offensive here than in previous fights AND he was was punching in combinations and making easy work of "Victor" Ortiz.

Victor Ortiz was trash. Quit against Maidana and was on badly hurt, dropped, and almost stopped by equally trashy Berto before he fought Floyd.

His prime never lasted a whole fight. Flashes of brilliance but he wasn't hungry enough. Way to quick to accept defeat. Almost looking for it sometimes.

His fight with Berto was a barnburner.

For six rounds, it sure was. Second half, I seem to recall the pace sagged and Berto was more conscious of survival (stymied the action to that effect).

The definition of "fan friendly," as long as you didnt have money bet on him.

The fight with Maidana is somehow sort of forgotten already and would be a final candidate for FOTY any given year.

The awesome war with Berto, the back and forth slugger against Josesito, managed to make one of the funnest fights of Mayweathers career, had a fun one with Alexander when they were both super washed up, and had entertaining showings when he was a prospect facing the usual experience-building-fights.

If you want to be entertained and dont care who won or lost, as many fans claim they do, you really should appreciate and pay respect to Ortiz.

The Lamont Peterson fight sums him up. Looks incredible and drops him multiple times in the first round or two, looking like a blowout, then just seemed to chill.

If I put on an old 1950's boxing trainer persona, one could criticize him by saying "he wasnt a fighta!"
