I see Fury holding and hitting and lying on Holy's neck... and it just not working. Esp if the ref steps in, which presumably Evander would be the a-side in this mythical matchup. I think Evander would really paste him with shots, stay in the pocket, and just outwork Fury. Holyfield was a master of shutting out pre-fight mind games, which is a huge edge Fury uses. Single minded, determined, ATG foot speed and hand speed near to match, plenty of power to mark up Fury's easily blemished face (which would help Evander win the close rounds). Evander UD.
which Fury shows up? Fury of his last fight? I think a prime Holyfield could take him. Fury of the 2nd Wilder fight? I think Holyfield may be in trouble.
Holyfield would win every round on his way to an early stoppage. Uysk may play with him a bit longer. Fury has nothing to beat either guy.
Good point. Obviously most would be expecting to see the very best renditions of both men. I think Evander would have a very hard time over coming those physical advantages. And If we’re honest , fury isn’t just some dumb thug who can’t box either
I don't think a 10-11cm height difference is too small. Tyson Fury lies about being 6'9, while being 6'6.5, and Evander Holyfield is 6'2 legitimately.
Got a gut feeling that Whyte may spring an upset with Fury and I don’t think Whyte is anything special. I’m probably wrong but it’s my gut talking only. Fury is a good fighter but chinny and a slob. Against a spartan like Holyfield it could prove the difference. Fury sure as **** doesn’t possess the power to stop Evander and it’s debatable if he possesses the work rate to keep a peak Holyfield off him. But he is a huge man and enjoys a natural advantage there and is mobile enough for a big guy. Still Holyfield to me is the vastly superior fighter despite the size discrepancy and would win this bout.
Fury is much stronger and could win on the outside or in a wrestling match. Not sure if Evander could even reach high enough to headbutt.
1-3 against Bowe, some say 0-3.............0-2 against Lewis.......................1-1 against glass cannon Moorer.................1-1-1 against Huggybear Ruiz.................. Tyson Tyson Tyson Tyson.................that is his only claim to fame defusing a washed up post prison Tyson. Fact. Struggled with palooka Cooper.........struggled with trail horse Mercer.......struggled with fossils Foreman/Holmes.............struggled with nobody Bean........... Holyfield aint winning against Fury, boxing or brawling..............and I am having a laugh on the posters who think Holyfield could ko Fury...lol.....he barely got a standing TKO against said washed up Tyson in the 11th hour who fought a little more than a half dozen rounds in four years......and waxed the morbid obese Douglas who trained for a Pizza contest, almost anybody in the top ten would have pasted that version of Douglas at that time................those are his KO victims because he pretty much never ko'ed anybody of note , oh yeah, glass chinned Moorer and could never put a dent into pure china Alex Stewart in two tries......
Not the Holyfield that fought Douglas. People can't seem to look beyond Douglas to see what Holyfield did in his first shot at THE belt. No bull**** there. There was going to be no trading back and forth. That young guy would have KO'd Bowe. Holyfield had one of the best mind-sets.. saw him through to his late thirties. He traded when he felt like it.. and he dominated when he felt like it. '91 Holyfield stops Fury. And Fury's pretty ****ing good. But '91 Holyfield lays in the body shots.. all.night.long.
I too have always felt that the 1990 Evander was the best version. That said I’m still not sold on the idea that he’d beat Fury. Guess we’ll never know.
'90/'91 Holyfield KO. No doubt. Look, Holyfield -Douglas gets nearly no credit for Evander Holyfield . But that guy doesn't do a tet e' tet. Holyfield's first shot at THE belt should tell you all you need to know, though. No back and forth. Just body shots till you fall. That guy KO's Bowe too. He wasn't ****ing around there in '90. Fury is pretty great by now. But '90 Holyfield puts bodyshot KO lean on him. '90 Holyfield would be sweeping body shots at him (looking at Holyfield-Douglas). Fury probably still hasn't ever faced anything like that, I'm pretty sure. Bodyshots from nasty places, man.. he even knocked Mike Tyson down from a half-assed one (imagine if THEY had fought in '90.. Holyfield bodyshot machine).
Actually, Douglas looks a lot like Tyson Fury shape. But Holyfield looks like a machine.. jab, speed, footwork, everything. This content is protected Holyfield is hoppy and jittery.. but when the **** hits the fan, he settles down.
