Nobody has ever been scared to fight Bivol because of his power. That says it all. They can all potentially hurt each other by landing on the button if they're boxers of similar weight etc. So that's why they all fight with a guard. I'm sure if Bivol lands clean in the right spot he can wobble or drop everyone in his division.
    But let's get real.
The guys with the dangerous power, that can end fights quickly, are the ones other fighters are worried about, that get a reputation for their power.
Beterbiev worries people. Kovalev used to. etc.

I don’t think he poses any threat to Canelo because of this. It’s going to be even less than usual since he will be punching down against the stocky Canelo. The only question mark in this fight for me is if Bivol makes it to the final bell. It’s a very credible fight for Canelo on paper, not so much in reality. I’m still more into this fight than the cruiser fight or against one of those super middles that there has been talk about though. Canelo is possibly in the running for GOAT when all is said and done, we need to enjoy him while he’s here.

His style works for him thus far so he doesn’t need more power, sitting on every punch and trying to ko guys comes at a cost, he is undefeated and thats all that matters. on the flip side he can actually get fights due to not knocking out his opponents all the time as you stated, if he was creaming guys like beterbiev then we probably wouldn’t be having this discussion.

How many times has Pascal who has fought everyone even been down let alone stopped?

Only a prime absolutely savage punching Kovalev has stopped him and he finished on his feet in both instances

Smith has never been legitimately dropped and he's only been stopped on a broken jaw

Chilemba who has also fought everyone has only been stopped once, again on an injury, and he's only been dropped by the aforementioned murderous punching Kovalev and by Vlasov

Salamov and Richards have never been dropped AFAIA

Bivol was giving away a significant amount of weight to all of them

He isn't a huge puncher but he can definitely crack a bit and is far from having ''no power''

Yes because we all know you have to thrust your whole body into a punch, overextending yourself and leaving yourself open to a counter. That's the proper way to throw. What a stupid video.

Bivol is going to make Canelo look like a one dimensional bum.

Bivol's last 6 fights ended with unanimous decision. Think about it. As he started to face more serious opposition, the weakness of his fists got exposed. That's why Reynoso chose Bivol instead of Beterbiev and Smith Jr.

Of course he is wrong. He doesn't understand what he is watching. He sounds smart to dumb Internet fans like you because you have never entered a boxing club.

Bivol has plenty of power his KO% is arounf 50%. Smith is a tank and he was out on his feet towards the end of their fight.

Bivol could have more power should be the title of this thread. I agree that his form is not optimal for power punching, he doesn't twist much into his shots and neither does he throw power hooks much.

But what he loses in power he gains much in accuracy, speed and elusiveness. Thanks to throwing straight shots from the shoulder he rarely has momentum carrying him off balance and he's always ready to step back the instant a big counter comes.

It's easy to look at him superficially and think "oh yeah, basic fighter, nothing special."

Watch a few fights of his and you will gain an appreciation of his 'basic' but highly honed battleplan. If Canelo picked him because he has 'no power' he's making a big mistake. Bivol has power, and what's more he has a lot of skill behind it too.

You don't have to transfer weight to have power in your punches that's what fouts tells wannabes to gets sub's n memberships.

Agreed, and most importantly, there's nothing about this matchup that anyone should complain about. There was some talk about Bivol coming down to 168 to challenge for Canelo's titles, the idea came out of Bivol's own mouth. That would have been something for people to complain about, but that never came to pass. Indeed the match is happening at the full 175. But yet still some are finding reasons to complain about this match. There's nothing here to complain about. Bivol is a big challenge for Canelo, a man who is in his prime. With power, maybe not as much power than Beterbiev, but a much more skilled fighter than Artur who is more difficult stylistically.

Lets just sit back and enjoy this great fight. Canelo fans and haters alike should have no bones or problems about this matchup. This is Canelo once again daring to be great and taking on a big risk here. If we're honest, this might be a bridge too far for Canelo. All it takes is one flush shot from Bivol and it would be harder than any punch Canelo's ever taken. Canelo needs to be very careful with Bivol, keep a tight guard and give Bivol a lot of head movement. And Bivol has great footwork and is defensively sound himself. The problem for Bivol is finding a target to land flush shots. Canelo may need to work the body early on and slow Bivol down, otherwise Bivol could pepper him from the outside, even if shots aren't landing flush he could win rounds just by being more active than Canelo. Great matchup, very good for boxing to see this match materialize.
