Sure Hope he doesn't.His power sure adds a unique asset to the division despite his imperfections.Has the ability to stop anyone except maybe Fury where he nearly pulled it off..
I think he has a last hurrah, whatever that looks like. He needs to recover after Fury pummelled him senseless but it would be nice to see him regroup and go out on a win. Hopefully he’s healed well enough to get back on the saddle and get back in the ring. There’s loads of good fights out there.
He's able to stop anyone, including Fury, but his chances aren't near 50% when it comes to the biggest names though. Is he retired? Maybe. I'd still like to see him against someone like Joshua or Joyce, to see where he actually stands (or lies).
He needs to have a voodoo trip to decide his future his words not mine Wilder cannot fight in till June. He is banned currently.
There's still a place for him in the division and I hope he gives us a couple more years. He doesn't really have anything to lose at this point since he's lost the belt and has zero wins in his last three fights. Might as well go out with a bang. Usyk, AJ, Ruiz. Take all of 'em on. Win or lose, it'll be a good show! Even though it could be argued that the 3rd fight with Fury wasn't needed, it was still a great battle and Wilder showed a lot of heart. He's got the physical abilities to entertain the people, it's just a matter of his mental state.
I feel like Wilder needs one or two more deserved beatings. Manufactured fighter just like Clenelo and Fraud. The only difference is that Clenhead and IV at least have more tools in their arsenal than one punch. I feel like although Fury dished out a beat down, it wasn't a concussive power punch kind of knockout.. Yeah Wilder deserves one of them ones
He can still earn a few more millions $ sticking around a few more years. The danger is Wilder may turn towards some psychedelic mushrooms dmt ayahuasca sorta stuff and becoming one of them new age spiritual woke crackhead dudes who got his third eye open. His team should convince him that they can still make good money from winnable fights. Wilder vs AJ would still be a big fight with or without any belts. Wilders right hand vs Joe Joyce chin would be an interesting equation. Wilder vs Makhmudov, whoever lands first. Wilder vs Usyk. Hrgovic... there is still plenty of interesting match ups..
I think it maybe over for gim. If he comes back he will fight the likes of Martin.. I can't see him taking on any of the top guys as he didn't before fighting Fury...who was supposed to be a gimme.
Throw him in with Martin or Kownacki to get some confidence/rebuilding done, then one more cash out. If he wins the cash out keep going until a loss then retire. The clock is ticking he will be 37 this year.
I'll be interested in seeing him vs Ruiz/AJ/Whyte for the foreseeable future. I think if Martin had gotten it done against Ortiz there would have been momentum to make that fight even though zero fans would be calling for it. Regarding AJ/Whyte it seems that with no belts and a public that is skeptical of all three of them there just isn't enough pressure to make a cross-promotion fight even though anyone can see Wilder/AJ and Wilder/Whyte are guaranteed entertainment.
I don't know but I suspect he is going to retire. He just doesn't strike me as a guy who will come back better nor as a guy who will be happy seeing his record diminish and if his confidence is shot and his punch resistance can only diminish. It's a shame tho bc with usyk at war it's really a good time for wilder vs Joshua. Would be wild for what should be have been an undisputed title fight to be a non title fight.
I hope he continues fighting. He's younger than a lot of heavyweights these days. There's a lot of interesting matchups he could be in: Ruiz, Joshua, Parker, Hrgovic, Sanchez, Anderson, Makhmudov, Chisora, etc. Charles Martin would be a good warm-up opponent for the early summer, then Ruiz late in the year.
