I can’t find any evidence that he beat Monroe or even fought him. Help me out on that one.

Parker and Scypion are nothing to put him in discussion with Canelo.

Benitez had brain damage by then.

He got dropped hard by Moore in one round after that and did nothing after Hamsho. I think he was finished like most people. Even if he had a little bit left, he did nothing at middle.

He broke his ankle vs Moore. He upset a hot New York Prospect after Hamsho.

Stop with the nonsense. The prospect he beat was trash. He broke his ankle because he got drilled with a clean overhand right because his reflexes and balance were shot.

It’s painful to even watch him fight Hamsho because of how far he slipped. Turn the fight on and tell me with a straight face that Benitez was even decent for that fight.

He slipped that far in less then two years? From what?
Funny because Moore couldn't hit him with the follow up shots where Benitez slipped like what 12/15 shots?
He broke his ankle because of the way he landed.
Brain damaged but fought Matthew Hilton and lasted into the 9th round???
Hamsho was suppose to be the tune up for Benitez to face Hagler but Hamsho who was very strong on the inside mauled Benitez.

He wouldn’t have been a tune up if they’d known that Benitez was cooked. He looked like he’d been pulled out of a crack den. And he looked just as terrible for Moore.

Yes, he had brain damage. Fun fact: Ali went ten rounds with Berbick while brain damaged.

McSwain? He'd lost his previous three fights and was 9-7-1. There's no way possible Benitez was the underdog.

Hamsho was a tough brawler with an iron chin and plenty of stamina. His punch was average as he rarely if ever threw with leverage (he was known as an arm puncher) but he was dirty and mean and probably a really bad stylistic matchup for Benitez particularly at 160 pounds. He was a tough outing and he might have reigned for a while if Hagler didn't exist. At one time many thought him the best of the rest.
