I've been watching Crawford for years now and I am always on the fence with him. There are days when I feel as though he is overrated but then there a days I feel he is greater than many fighters we have seen. Would you say Crawford, as a boxer, is in the same class as Manny, Floyd, Leonard, and Duran? Or is he just another Oscar, Mosley, Pernelle, Tito, Vernon....etc

Can’t tell. The eye test is there but it’s hard to gage when all those guys best wins are against ATGs and his is Postol and Porter. And he hasn’t earned the right to be mentioned with Shane Mosley, Oscar De La Hoya, Pernell Whitaker and Tito Trinidad.

He’s very hard to gage right now. H2h he might be the best in the world but he fights broken, old cans. To be fair he was the first and only man to KO Porter even though the fight was evenly matched up to that point.

Pea very arguably lost to ODLH either way it was a close fight when pea was far past it. And the Tito fight Whitaker was long gone.

Those guys are still much lesser fighters than Crawford IMO.

Oscar would beat crawford at 147 imo. But Honestly we dont know what class he would be in because he hasnt had a mega fight to gauge how good he really is. Hopefully we get the spence fight sooner rather than later.

He's no where near the level of Duran or Leonard. It's debateable if he is at the level of Oscar and Tito since his resume is weak.

The hard thing with Bud is it's hard to know what his ceiling is, given he's not had that marquee fight against a future HOFer / fellow elite to really show his all.

There are some fighters that only really show their true greatness in adversity when pushed to the absolute limit, and have to go through gears they never even knew they had - Crawford hasn't had to do that yet, not really.

A lot of that is Arum's fault, but also Bud's for staying with Arum for so long.

What I think is really frustrating after watching the Duran / Leonard Montreal fight yesterday, is if Bud and Spence had just gotten it on, without all the bull**** posturing and 'marinate', 'other side of the street' crap, they could have unequivocally shown as that they were both elite and elevated each other to at least the level of DLH / Tito etc. Regardless of any controversy, Canelo vs GGG I & II unequivocally showed that both fighters were elite talents, and answered a lot of questions about both. Imagine if those 2 had never fought? Both guys would have lost a **** ton from their legacy IMO

But of course that's not come to pass - Crawford's best wins are Porter and Postol, both of whom are great boxers, but just shy of elite having consistently come up short against the best they have faced.

Based on the eye-test, I don't have an issue with anyone suggesting that based on talent and ability, that Crawford would be competetive with Tito and DLH etc (just check his shot selection that put Porter down the 1st time), but the resume doesn't back that up in practice, so many folks would have him as the underdog in those fantasy matchups.

Bud needs Spence. Spence needs Bud.

    Get it on!

NB - I wouldn't be at all surprised if Ugas upsets the apple cart on that one...

That 95-2001 era of WWs that was headlined ODLH, Tito, Mosley, Whitaker, and Quartey get’s disrespected a lot today for whatever reason. That could arguably be the best WW era . If not the best it’s because the era of SRL, Duran, Hearns and Benitez. They don’t get their just due with Oscar partially responsible since he handed the Face of Boxing torch to Floyd and Manny.
