This is absurd. Basically, if he had scored 10 rounds the same and changed two rounds to Catterall he wouldn't be in the crosshairs. In fact, Catterall would have won and this wouldn't even be a subject to discuss. This was a sloppy, messy, poorly fought, full of holding, badly refereed mess of a fight. I had the fight 113-112 Catterall but the outrage over the decision and the accusations of impropriety are just ridiculous.

Ian John-Lewis is a corrupt POS. He has many bad decisions on his record. It isn't one off or so...he's full of **** and he gives a ****. Time to remove this corrupt clown.

Props to you for coming out with the truth about this fight, if you had not seen it, and only listened to the " pundits " you would have thought it was a real classic, that it most certainly wasn't, totally at one with your description, if the fight had been on the undercard, and they were unknown, they would have booed, and you could have been forgiven for walking out, the ref was abysmal, the judges ( I use the term loosely) were well, not paying attention.
As for IJL he was " downgraded " from A plus to A :nonono C'mon BBBC step up and do your job properly, smells of old school tie to me, same as when the police investigate, errrr the police ! you had a chance to show your bite, instead you barked quietly, and on it will go. stay safe guys.

A robbery? yes, but all that drame is stupid. Plus, there is no way to prove that the referee did it on purpose. Can you suspect it? well, yes, but no way you cant prove it. CST defended a card in the RBR thread where caterall lost, I dont agree with this card, but it can be defended and specially while scoring at ringside (where you watch a different fight from the rest of the people).

Totally agree with the guys saying that hadnt caterall been english nothing would have happened. And I find it particularly disgusting.

Do I suspect corruption (by corruption I mean giving the fight to the hommie guy, nothing else)? yes. But no way you can punish someone without being certain, I think. Rounds were too ugly to be able to "prove" that it was corruption, no matter how much you suspect it.

It wouldn't really matter who the judges are, you(and your ilk) would start screaming corruption the minute you disagreed with the outcome of any fight.

This is the first downgrading I can remember since Mike Jacobs in 1984 so no small thing. Ian John Lewis has exhibited poor judgement on more than one occasion as a referee and a judge but the Board didn't want to hang him totally out to dry.
For those who don't know, John Lewis was a decent pro in the 80's and has been involved in the sport for over 40 years. Away from the ring, he is an award winning, reforming prison Governor. He is, in my view, by no means corrupt, just wrong once too often.
I certainly welcome the increased and more regular scrutiny of officials.

He's been terrible for a while now. Do they mention the history as rationale for the downgrade or are they seriously saying this one scorecard was that egregious?

If it's the latter, that must be hard to do with a straight face.

What they really need to look into is the appointment process. For a fight of that magnitude they should have had the best.

It's better than that actually. They consider a Taylor win to be acceptable and are not punishing the judge who had it 113-112 for TTT.

So it was one round, if he had found one more Catterall round in there he (supposedly) would have been fine.

It's about the clear Catterall round he scored for Taylor, he tried to defend it and they decided it wasn't acceptable to conceive that round being given the other way.
