I never really got the hype around Conlan. I know he was a good amateur but his style isn't suited for the pros and he clearly lacks the power as a game changer. He looked mediocre in all of his pro fights. I didn't see him looking really good once as a pro yet. Just edged out a few hometown decisions against foreign guys. Wood should really beat him if he can repeat the Can Xu performance. He looked better than ever, stronger than ever and more powerful than i have ever seen him before. Additionally he's the promoted A-side fighting in his home town.

    Wood UD. Competitive but clear.

Wouldn't be surprised if Wood wins or it being a draw.

Still, my prediction is Conman knocks Wood stiff in the 9th.

I think his stoppage loss to Gavin McDonnell had a hell of a lot to do with his inability to make that weight, it was his last match at 122. So most likely, he's like Stephen Smith, who was brutally KO'd by Lee Selby of all people, but moved up and took the punches of guys like Pedraza, Vargas and Sosa quite well.

Won't happen. Conlan has zero power. He couldn't finish Flyweights/Bantamweights before. Wood fought at 130 and 135 before. Wood is a big boy. He coul probably fight at 130 without a problem. If Conlan wins its a decision. If there is a KO it's probably Wood starching Conlan.

I don't care what "we need". I have money on Wood +160 and i'm pretty confident he wins this. Conlan is an overrated hype job. I don't need another hype job winning a world title.

I can actually see this playing out similar to Kelly/Avenesyan, with Woods power, size, strength and pressure getting to Conlan from the halfway point and see Conlan getting stopped between 6 and 9.

I much prefer the Wood story and the fact he's done it the hardway, had the gut checks and set backs and bounced back better and more determined each time.

I hope I'm wrong but I'm not hyped for this fight and can see it being a snooze fest.

Yeah. I think Wood is going to batter him with precise counters once he's tiring. Conlan never really impressed me and was hit way too much by guys like Baluta or Doheny. Wood has a great stylistic matchup here.
