So between the Wlad and Ruiz fights, inclusive.

During this time AJ was seen as the defacto number 1 in the division, Fury had gone AWOL and Wilder wasn't very highly regarded.

But with hindisght I feel like opinion is shifting more to Fury just being the top dog since beating Wlad until now.

Question is, during this 2 year period is it fair to say AJ was the number 1 HW in the world?

Would he have been favoured over Fury with the power of the hindsight?

Fury could roll out of bed at 350 pounds and beat AJ. He has been the number 1 heavyweight since Haye ducked him in 2012...or maybe when he made Wlad quit in the Sauna 2011.

    That's a 10 year reign.

I think so. But as we all know, betting odds don't tell the whole story. it would be a 50-50 fight IMO, but yes, at the time, AJ was rightfully seen as the higher ranked Brit.

That said....if Fury retires w/o trying to fight AJ....Fury quacked back to the compound to roast duck w/ Wilder.

Between the period he beat Wlad and lost to Ruiz, AJ was the #1. But, even though Fury from the 1st Wilder fight has never been regarded highly, I would’ve favoured that Fury over Joshua, albeit by a slight margin.

Once Fury got back into shape in late 2018, he always would have beaten Joshua from that point onwards.

The Fury from Wilder 1 would have boxed circles around Joshua.

Joshua's best performance is going life and death with a 41 year old Vlad.

I've got 385lb crackhead Fury all day.

Been mulling this over since I made the thread, and I've gotta say, I'm going with AJ.

I just can't fathom a coke fuelled 350 pounder beating AJ at the peak of his powers.

Yes AJ was clearly the number 1 HW with by the best record in the divison at the time.

AJ vs the current past it Fury is very one sided mismatch and win for AJ.

Prime Fury (Chisora 2- Wlad) would of provided AJ a very tough fight.

From the moment Tyson Fury hit the shape to fight Wilder 1; Tyson Fury beats AJ. (85/15 in shape for Seferi, and Pianeta).
It is ungrateful for me to predict what the outcome of the fight would be on January 1, 2017.

I think it would be fair to say during that time that Joshua was the #1 HW

    During that time
Fury wasn't active when Joshua beat Wladimir, then Joshua won a unification against undefeated HW champ Parker, beat Takam and Povetkin.
Fury during that time had beaten Seferi, Pianetta, Schwartz and had the draw with Wilder (which I felt Fury won)

Yes I think Joshua should have been considered #1 at that time
I have Fury as #1 now

I don't know if Joshua would have been favoured to beat Fury though

Yeah this is where I'm at tbh. At the time AJ was definitely the deserved number 1 in the wake of Furys problems, but I feel like hindsight is overlooking what he did during that time and almost rewriting history.

I'm a bit unsure about Fury from Wilder 1, I only make him a clear favourite from when AJ got starched by Ruiz.

Well at his worst shape Fury couldn't even run for 5 minutes.
