Oof. If you are confused about this just happening now, that is because the Scotsman - a former two-time WBO featherweight titlist - had been on the shelf for nine years since a loss to Liam Walsh but still technically active. He was in training for a return match this past weekend, on March twelfth, but his Ghanaian opponent Razak Nettey pulled out last minute - precipitating the decision.

Shame he's leaving with a sour taste in his mouth. He was a tough aggressive battler in his pomp around turn of the millennium, and was even a capable lightweight fringe contender in his first long-form comeback a decade ago (I always liked his spiteful whipping left hook on the body, which did in György Mizsei as effectively in June of 2012 as it had for Michael Brodie in June of 2005). I'm not sure what he was really going to accomplish now at 44, however. One article on Scottish Daily Express suggests that he wasn't deluding himself about mounting a run (being more inclined to focus on his new startup business going forward) and simply wanted to end his career on a win. Poor show by Nettey, then. :ohno

First live boxing event I ever went was Harrison v chacon when he won his world title.pity his career went the way it did,he was an absolute unit for a featherweight and could have been in some huge fights if not for the bother he got himself into.

Aye, he wasn't blessed with many standout physical gifts (did have a fairly decent wingspan for 126lbs, though - same as LSC's) but he was a fighter through & through. Squeezed himself for every viable drop that he could, at least when between the ropes.

Should have kept going as Connor Benn would have been calling him out a year down the line.

The Real McCoy was a great fighter and could have reached an elite level like Josh Taylor without his alcohol problems.

    Rated him very highly.

I remember thinking Wayne mccullough would simply out work him and quite frankly, beat him up.

I don't think I've ever been more wrong about a fight in my life. Scott absolutely man handled him and beat the **** out of mccullough.

He was a tough *******, shame he derailed his own career really

The most talented Scottish boxer I have seen. Never achieved what he should but achieved alot. I think it's also worth mentioning that his dad, the great Peter Harrison who trained him throughout has Alzheimer's. By thoughts with the family at this difficult time.

I call him Anabolic Arthur these days. Have you seen him?

He makes Saul Alvarez look skinny, and he is as red as a beetroot.

He was a monster as a featherweight in his hey day

A shame really how things panned out as he should've achieved a lot more.
