Gervonta has a lot of talent and might be able to beat the other top lightweights. He really needs to step up. He's been in pretty much the same position for many years now. He's not the only lightweight who frustrates me. The only top level fight we've seen in the past few years is Lopez-Loma. Would love to see Gervonta fight Garcia, Haney, Loma, Lopez, Kambosos.

Tank is basically still a 30 year old prospect. Porter has been in with and given hell to all the best of his generation.

    Put it this way:

Porter fought Crawford and Spence almost back to back.

Tank has a "big fight" coming up against...Rolly

Fury had his twenty-seventh birthday three months prior to meeting and defeating Wladimir Klitschko, so you stand corrected on that score.

    (You're not low, Pete.)

You are wrong he has elite skills coupled with power. Tank is no one trick pony.

You can’t compare them talent wise.

Been thinking about this since it was first posted, and right now I have to say no. Davis isn't on the level of Porter.

Going into the Kell Brook fight Porter had a very pleasing unbeaten record also.

The difference is Porter never ducked no one. He consistently challenged himself against the top level. Brook, Broner, Thurman, Berto, Garcia, Ugas, Spence, Crawford.

Davis won't fight those kinda names because he thinks he's an a side and doesn't need to challenge himself any more.

We know Porters level, Davis is refusing to show us his.

Not a fan of Davis, but comparatively ALL of Porters big fights came at the age of 27 or older starting with Kell

As I said before I don't like Tank but every single fighter you named were fights after the age that Tank is now. He still has time, we all just have a hunch he won't step up.

Age isn't relevant in this issue.

Porter won his title in 2013, by 2016 he'd fought Brook and Thurman already.

Davis won his first title in 2017, by 2022 he still hasn't fought anybody.

Age is a far more valid comparison certainly than some meaningless title. Belts have no meaning whatsoever when anyone can basically fight who they want. Belts are only created so the governing bodies can charge the champion ridiculous fees. Some can't even "afford" to be champion, lol. They have no real value from my perspective. Generally speaking, a great percentage of fighters age similarly within 2 to 3 years. Just my opinion.

I would agree, but the reality is that as meaningless as belts are, those wearing them claim to be the best in the world.

And when Porter made that claim, he set out to prove. Tank hasn't.

What about the "eye test." Based on skill and power alone, if you place Grevonta P4P in any weight division, he would be top 3 to 5 at least.

    Nowhere near.

The eye test only counts if you've actually been in against elite level opponents
