Headlining the boxing portion of TrillerVerz 5 on May 14th. Ten rounds at cruiserweight - a compromise between Kovalev's lifelong stomping grounds of LHW and Pulev's normal turf at heavy (although he does campaign at CW sometimes). In the co-main event, Tervel's more decorated brother Kubrat will take on Andrey Fedosov returning from yet another disappointing layoff. I just kind of want to skip this and fast-forward to Krusher vs. Cobra, since I'm positive they're both going to get their hands raised unless something goes totally hinky. That one doesn't exactly amount to a hill of beans in any division's scene itself, but at least it has some unpredictable intrigue to it and could eliminate some chaff from the fringes of contention with the loser hopefully inspired to give up the ghost and retire already.

For the love of God Kova, hang it up. I was such a massive superfan. Can somebody tell him that he went life and death with none other than..... ANTHONY YARDE, and that was years ago. His boxing has since deteriorated even further since. I suppose not getting paid (not in a figurative sense either) for most of your prime may motivate you to sacrifice your dignity and sell your name as a LHW legend for some cash.
I'm surprised to see the majority of people pick Pulev to win. Tervel despite his 81 percent KO ratio isn't a hard puncher, inactive, has never fought above European level ( Webster and Meroro also fall into fringe category) as a pro and never showed the desire to achieve things in the sport like his brother. Kovalev for all his faults has still been training with Buddy McGirt and looks in decent shape, bit flabby, but it will be okay come fight night. He should be the favorite against Pulev.
Someone needs to grill Kovalev on why he fixed the fight vs Canelo.. Absolute farce. Used to have respect for Kovalev. Then again I'd likely accept millions for a spar... In fact it wasn't even a spar, because spars look far more intense
Not going to do this Canelo thing right here and now. So a simple **** off is all I can muster right now.
He had one tough round, either side of which he schooled and beat up Yarde before knocking him out. If you think he's all washed up, that's one thing. May well be the case. But let's not make stuff up.
More athletes need to retire like Marvin Hagler or Barry Sanders. You mainly feel sorry for those competing past their best. I wish we got to see Kovalev v Stevenson.
He didnt go life and death with Yarde though. He had one bad round but he survived. At the very most, you can make the argument that Kovalev lost 2 rounds against Yarde, but that’s it. He was completely in control otherwise and he KO’d Yarde with a JAB.
