Canelo clearly got a whole lot better. This was a guy struggling and “arguably” losing to guys like Trout, Lara and a shot blown-up Cotto. You can’t train with serious dedication as Canelo does with one of the best trainers in the world right now and not improve. Nonetheless, it was still a fantastic win for Floyd. Let’s not forget that Floyd himself wasn’t “prime”, and he was much smaller, with brittle hands and Canelo was already in the top 5 p4p list.
He didn't struggle at all with Cotto. He easily won that. He struggled vs Trout and Lara, less so against Trout than Lara. Floyd was still prime and in top condition vs Canelo, as referenced here in the photo on the left : https://i.imgur.com/6WtPK9r.jpeg There's no way you can look at that photo of Floyd at the Canelo weigh-in and conclude he was no longer prime. He only started to look faded and no longer "prime" in his next fight vs Maidana, as you can see in the photo on the right. The side by side weigh-in photos makes that crystal clear. Floyd still looked "prime" vs Canelo, and only started to look faded vs Maidana 8 months later. Also, Canelo was not Top 5 P4P. In fact, Canelo was outside of the Top 10 P4P when the fight was signed, and they only slid Canelo into the Top 10 P4P (IIRC P4P #9) after he signed to fight Floyd.
I had Cotto-Canelo a draw. So did Harold Lederman I believe, or even for Cotto. Cotto boxed his ears off. The only reason Canelo won was size, Cottos punches were bouncing off him.
A draw?? LOL Cotto boxed Canelo's ears off? What fight were you watching? Canelo was in cruise control vs Cotto. It was competitive but it was an easy win for Canelo. Did you take a look at the weigh-in photo of Floyd vs Canelo then vs Maidana? How can you look at that photo of Floyd at the Canelo weigh-in and say Floyd didn't look prime that night?
give me your scorecard round by round. Canelo is one of those guys who gets the benefit of doubt on scorecards when he doesn’t do anything in the round either, much like Floyd. Had it been Floyd jabbing Canelos head off as Cotto was, he’d have cruised to a win. For example, you could have as easily given the first 2 rounds to Cotto, but guessing you gave it to Canelo, why? Bodies don’t mean much, Pac looked in great shape vs Ugas. Floyd was prime about 140. Still extremely good at 147 but he wasn’t at his peak.
Don't have a scorecard for it, I'd have to take another look. I'll watch the first 2 rounds again and we can discuss that. I'm sure you probably could give Cotto enough rounds to arrive at a draw if you were really trying to find rounds to score to Cotto, but scoring it straight up just based on efficiency and who was landing the cleaner more effective shots, it seemed a pretty clear victory for Canelo. But in any event I'll take another look and we can discuss. You describe Cotto as a "shot, blown-up" Cotto. Generally shot blown up fighters don't outbox prime, top P4P fighters like Canelo. Cotto was competitive, but he didn't come close to winning that match imho. I'm not sure Cotto was "jabbing Canelo's head off" but generally you have to do more than just jabs if your opponent is landing more power punches. If you just scored round based on jabs, then that's a different story. Well placed clean effective power shots can offset a lot of jabs. But of course it depends on the quality of punches, which is quite subjective. Not just his body, but also the performance. Many called it a "master class" by Floyd, you can't have it both ways, for him to administer anything close to a master class he'd have to be prime or close to prime. I agree he wasn't peak, but he still looked every bit in his prime that night if you look at his condition and the level at which he performed. Compared to his lackluster performance against Maidana 8 months later, he looked every bit in his prime vs Canelo. If he didn't look prime, then he wouldn't have gotten the praise that he did that night. I posted the weigh-in pics to remind everyone of the difference in his condition and physique in those two bouts, which is quite noticeable.
Sugar Ray Robinson might have beaten a lot of great fighters, but let's be real, he also fought a lot of bums. If you fight 100+ fights, you're gonna fight some bums. I'd argue Floyd has a better good fighter-to-wins ratio, despite having only a quarter of the fights Robinson had.
I became more a Wlad fans after a while (Same w/ Vit). I rooted against him a lot. But I did that w/ Lennox at the time as well. I hated seeing these giants w/ massive power taking the safety route to win. But they have to do what's best for them, not the fans. Boxing isn't about KO's, and winning via a KO isn't even better than out boxing someone over 12 IMO. In fact, i'd say it's more difficult to win via a UD then getting the KO early on. Anyone can get caught really.
Answers easy Tony couldn't sue because the CSAC never indicted him. They couldn't they had absolutely no proof That independent lab tested the pads microscopically & deemed them HARMLESS!! to his opponent. The CSAC had already jumped the gun & suspended Tony's licence to box in Ca BEFORE!! the pads were tested. they really had egg on their face. They believed Nasty Naz & their Insp who incidently watched the wrapping BEFORE Naz started his BS. Rather than do the right thing & immediately restore Tony's licence they continued it for 21/2 yrs because they SUSPECTED he'd tried to load his gloves & that ruined a good fighters career. The commission can suspend a fighters licence at their pleasure they don't have to prove anything. Tell me how does Tony prove his innocence ? When the State Commission cannot prove him guilty Both Naz & the commission Insp should be indicted for LYING !!! Its that simple. All it does is just prove how corrupt the commissions are. Oh BTW there was ample evidence for the NSAC to indict Floyd for IV gate 100% ILLEGALLY getting saline drip in his own home. But he was the Cash Cow wasn't he so the commission attempted to cover his ass. The commissions rule the roost Until they get an International commission all this corruption will continue its ruining the greatest sport in the world
Did you ever graduate HS ?? LOL I doubt it because you obviously have no idea what being schooled means LOL
