Bareknuckle fighting has become more popular as of recent, slowly climbing the ladder of mainstream attention and viewership. Idk what I was doing but I randomly thought of this question and thought it was interesting. How well would the Bare-knuckle fighters of old do against the Bareknuckle fighters of today? Who's wins more often then not?

Lets talk in the context of rules from both eras

It would be a complete mismatch.

The top bare knuckle fighters of the 19th century, were the best fighters in the world.

The top bare knuckle fighters of today, are men who couldn't cut it in mainstream combat sports.

Agreed. As far as I'm concerned, this post ^ closes the thread.

I agree with Janitor. Though I will add that from what I've seen the rules of modern bareknuckle have nothing at all in common with historic bareknuckle.

No finish fights, rounds ending based on falls, and they often have wrist support.
