Who did Hopkins beat at middleweight? A few welterweights with big names. Do you really think Crawford and Spence could do anything with GGG? Other than that he fought B level opponents.

Golovkin literally fought 3 good opponents (Canelo, Dev and Jacobs) and struggled against all of them

 

Hopkins drew with Mercado, lost to Taylor 2x and struggled in a few fights. GGG has beat quite a few good fighters easily not just those but if they're no American he gets no credit.

 

In the Mercado fight he wasn't used to the altitude. Taylor was a good fighter, styles make fights so GGG probably beats him but i would favour prime Hopkins to school Dev and Jacobs

 

Beat both of them? Yes. Easily I don't think so. Hopkins always used to have some problems with fast agile movers.

End of I said they're on roughly equal pegging at MW I stand by that and if they both fought in their primes I'd expect it to go right to the wire and be a very close fight.
