Bivol 19-0 (11 KO) Amateur record 265-15. Many gold medals. He lacks some notable fights as a pro though. Except Pascal, I did not know much about the other fighters he got in the ring against. I don't know about his chin either. If you know a fight where he got hurt and recovered or a fight he shows capable to fight like a tough warrior, I think that might be needed against Canelo. What I see is Bivol has speed, highly efficient with his punches and can deliver them with respectable power.

There is some questions left unanswered.

Canelo has proven he can fight a guy like Bivol. Bivol hasn't prove yet he is going to be victorious May 7th.

Current odds : Dmitry Bivol 3.93 Draw 18.00 Canelo Alvarez 1.22

Canelo is quite a favorite here to win for the bookmakers and bettors.

Now here is a bit of subjectivity : I don't beleive Canelo is a real light heavyweight. He is not going to fight Beterbiev. Bivol could. So that is strange. Also, Canelo win against Kovalev was opportunistic. Caleb Plant was a much more interesting win but many beleive he was a b-grade fighter. Bivol is A-grade fighter.

Won't it be the toughest fight at light-heavyweight in Canelo career? I believe so.

I expect a very tight fight. No KO. A tough decision favoring Canelo.

    Your toughts ?

Bivol is about to take 8 or 9 rounds off Canelo and get robbed. Canelo cannot afford to lose with the GGG trillogy nearing and his judges know this

Canelo has beaten past it Kovalev and KO'd both Saunders and Plant. This has boosted his and is fans confidence into thinking he is on Bivols level, but he's not. He never was. Canelo will just walk Bivol down with the high guard, counter, and try to break him down but Bivols ring iq is just a whole league or 2 above Canelos. Bivols just going to see everything.

Lots of credit to Canelo is he actually does convincingly beat Bivol though

If it's based on who you've beat then wtf does "Bivol level" even mean. He's beaten no one

Schooled Joe Smith Jr and past it Pascal

Canelo fought a damn near shot Kovalev who pitty pattied around the ring and was ahead until round 11. It was so bad and unusual that people are wondering wheather the Kovalev fight was fixed or not. Bivol is better than that version of Kovalev 100%. Much better

You dont have to agree with me. You will see.

Barrera, Smith and Pascal are quality wins. Bivol is a damn good boxer and he has the size and speed advantage over Canelo. I got Bivol winning 8 to 4

I won’t downgrade Bivol he’s actually very good and I actually think he beats Beterbiev. Joe Smith Jr is being viewed as having a great shot to beat Beterbiev and Bivol put on a boxing clinic against him. Outside of being stunned in the 10rd he won every round vs Smith and he dominated Pascal and Barrera. He’s fought 3 times in the past 3 years compared to 6 times for Canelo.

Simply one of Canelo’s biggest advantages against ALL of his potential opponents is his activity compared to theirs. Activity increases sharpness where as in contrast inactivity causes ring rust decreases sharpness. I’m sure Canelo will be facing Beterbiev soon and he’ll more than likely beat him too if he doesn’t lose beforehand.

I haven’t seen a whole lot of Bivols fights, but one little gripe I have with him is that he seems to lack an extra gear. He’s obviously undefeated, but he tends to get stagnant in later rounds. He still wins those rounds, but I don’t know if he’s playing it safe, or if he can’t make that adjustment to apply more pressure especially when he’s clearly outclassing his opponent.
    Both fighters highly skilled.

This is a good freakin fight!

I said it many times in this forum, but since it's asked again, i will repeat:

Bivol seems to have good combinations, timing, range management, movement, in and outs, etc...

    But against who?

He didn't fight world class opposition so far, it's hard to say his opponents were skilled as Canelo. He won his last 6 fights by decision. He has a low KO/TKO percentage.

Bivol is known for the lack of power in his fists and he fades in the second halves in his fights. He lost last 4 rounds to the domestic-level fighter Richards and almost knocked out by a right hook to the ear by Smith Jr in the end of round 10. He got caught a lot by Salamov. He is very hittable. Reynoso noticed these and jumped on the opportunity to get a light heavyweight title for Canelo.

In my opinion the fight scenario will be like this: Bivol will use Canelo as a punching bag in the first 6 rounds but it won't hurt Canelo a bit since Bivol is pillow fisted. Then Bivol will fade and Canelo will start brawling. Bivol's range management won't work because Canelo will walk over him. He will hurt Bivol with body shots and in the end he will KO Bivol with a hook to the right ear or temple. I expect the KO in round 11. This will be easier than Saunders fight.

Yes I just saw what you mean. That right hook by Smith rocked him for sure. Bivol stayed focus and finished the fight strongly. Smith is a big guy but stayed too passive after hurting Bivol. I agree Canelo would find a way to finish his guy. With that being said Canelo have been rocked also, that is long ago. The question for me is can Bivol hurt Canelo ? Will Canelo remain unrockable until the end of his career ?

Canelo doesn't lose decisions, regardless of how many punches he lands.

Bivol decision on fans and media's scorecards, Alvarez decision on the judges' cards.

This will be another addition to this long list of blemishes on Canelo's career:

Bivol wins 7-8 rounds, loses by 4 on the scorecards.
