If MOST 90s-2000s punchers hit as hard as Shavers, how would we know?

Well, I don't know for sure, but I'll axe you this question,..."if a tree falls down in a fistic forest and no one is there to hear it, will it make any sound?.....Or would anybody care?""

The case for Shavers being a genuine puncher, especially by today's modern heavyweight standards is basically absurd.

You kinda do an ABC game. Evander said Foreman hit harder then Lennox, Such and such said X didn’t hit as hard as Lennox you feel me? Then you go back and say well they said Foreman didn’t hit as hard as Shavers. Anyway the link is old Foreman and Lewis.

But why is that only the thing people say what about him not stopping most

I find it odd that people rate him so much a harder puncher off of quotes only why do words matter why do in ring doesnt matter at all

Cause when we look at the vids we can see mutiple harder hitters who stopped people way faster or just ko them with way less punches so that shows there those quotes are lies

I countered 8 clean hard shots he landed on ali they say his finish skills was bad I say its cause of his tech cause joe dropped ali who hit way less so called harder

So it wasn't just his finish skills was bad his tech was the reason which is another reason

Shavers had stamina issues...never was able to come up with the BIG punch when he needed to...and never had a KO past the 7th round! He never carried his "power" into the later rounds...and for the most part...he was a lousy finisher!!! Besides the fact that he was KO'd in the first round by Jerry Quarry!!!

I believe I heard once when asked about Tyson and Shavers Holmes said ,Tyson doesn't hit anything like Shavers. He's always maintained that Ernie was the harder puncher.

Indeed, their power is the main thing they had going for them.

I don't know why when a bunch of folks are citing Shavers lack of-endurance, late power, technique, accuracy, finishing skills...
Some are still using his lack of effectiveness against elite HWs as evidence against his power.
Even though seemingly EVERYBODY who fought him & the hardest bangers of his era-& some guys faced the biggest hitters of the next genersation-say he hit the hardest.

Everyone. Win or lose. Whether good for their theorized "agenda" or not.
Why is it hard to comprehend that effectiveness does not equal power?
I guess Ali hit harder than Foreman because he knocked him out right?
Even though Foreman was 40-0 with 37 KOs when he fought badly vs. Ali's brilliance.
Oh yeah Young clearly hit harder than Foreman too...

    Let us be sensible folks.
It is reasonable to wonder if later HWs hit as hard, although i think this was rare or non-existant.
But not to continually conflate results with power!

Especially when endless evidence is available of deficiencies that account for lack of the best possible results.
Maybe some folks should be wondering how Shavers did so well in a great era *without* a well-rounded game.

Not rationalizing he did not hit so hard.

This is all completely untrue, and no KOs past the 7th round is a flat out lie, because you've been told, and shown evidence it was not true multiple times.
