What will be their legacy? Will thay both be in the HOF or only one if any? Are they ATG and where would they rank all time p4p?
P4P is a made up airy fairy list that has no historical value or relevance People need to stop using this term.
Both are first ballot HOFers. Usyk has already attained ATG status at cruiserweight. Loma, however, falls well short of ATG status at lightweight. Had he campaigned at 130lbs for any length of time, a weight at which he would have been a handful for anyone over the last 30-40 years, Lomachenko would have joined that division's illustrious list of ATGs.
I dunno tbh. His professional career doesn't look that great to me. But there's still time yet I guess.
I have zero doubt they both go to the HOF. I don't consider either unarguably great, which is basically how I define an ATG. There is a short list of people who are that. If someone says Miguel Cotto was great, or wasn't, I don't think they're insane. I understand there's a case going for and against that's fundamentally solid. If you say Barney Ross isn't great, you're a goober and there's no objectivity there. These guys? They're at least great talents with accomplishments that make sense for a HOF, on paper. Lomachenko is one of the most athletically talented guys I've seen in a boxing ring, inescapably an ATG amateur athlete, like Rigo, but I don't know if I even consider him a great professional fighter. Usyk, he's almost unarguably great for me. If he beats AJ in a rematch, and beats Fury without losses happening to anyone first, I don't see a good case he's not. Usyk, for whatever kidding I've done, he's had to hack away at my opinion a bit, because I thought early on that I was going to be sitting in a skeptic's camp with others rating him so highly. But he's almost got me locked up. Lomachenko too, really, I've never been as high on as the majority, despite recognising huge potential, I have this feeling that his gear-shifter is broken for a great champion, and that it will always keep him out of the true ATG group and he's so far into his career now for a small guy, I don't see him ever getting that recognition from me that he's unarguably a great fighter. I mean, take me for, instance, look at my accomplishments. I've been able to do at least one sit-up every day my entire life. Can Loma say that? I don't know. I ain't been there with him every day.
