Love Salido - was in a lot of tremendous fights, the definition of an honest pro.

Bizarrely, I went to check on Boxrec when this fight took place and noticed that Salido is fighting a 6-round exhibition tonight against Erik Morales.

Would have been a decent scrap at featherweight back in the day. Morales would have won but it would have been entertaining. Now… well, I won’t be tuning in!

    @scartissue

    Benitez (2 4 8 9 14)
    Tony (3 6 10 11 12 13)
    Draw (1 5 7 15)

Lot of indecisiveness from myself. I give it to Tony though, Wish he had the inspiration to work the body more early in the fight. He really gave it to Wilfred from the neck down.

Journey, I will not dispute your card. I have often said this was the hardest bout I ever scored due to the fine line between speedier taps and fewer but harder shots. Man, I had to stay so focused for 15 rounds on this one. So its up to everyone's criteria.

Darn Mr Radar! Focus is an understatement, at least by my standards- the way Wilfred pulls and drags his head around forced me to replay so many exchanges where a ring side judge may have missed contact. I like the history of this bout too much to have wanted Tony to win on the night and I think as grey as it was, it was best for Wilfred to win that night which is a fair call.

Orlando Salido v Juan Manuel Lopez II (featherweight title)

    Round 1: 10-9 Lopez
    Round 2: 10-9 Salido
    Round 3: 10-9 Salido
    Round 4: 10-9 Lopez
    Round 5: 10-8 Lopez (scores a knockdown)
    Round 6: 10-9 Salido
    Round 7: 10-9 Salido
    Round 8: 10-9 Salido
Round 9: 10-9 Salido (Best round of the fight)
Round 10: Salido drops and stops Lopez

Total through 9 completed rounds: 86-84 Salido (actual scores: 85-85, and 2 scores of 86-84 for Lopez)

Guys, hunker down and watch this rematch because it was a good one. The scores were a bit strange, but there is something about San Juan and that rabid crowd that sways judges and officials. Salido was simply the Lopez Boogeyman. A guy who could handle Lopez' shots while constantly nailing him with that lead right. The 9th round was terrific and I really would have liked to have scored it Even because of the heart that Lopez displayed, but Salido's shots were just that more crisper. It was funny how a few seconds or so after the fight was stopped I saw Lopez b*tching at the referee - presumably for stopping it too soon in his eyes - but was still staggering while complaining. I then read the boxrec write-up and apparently Lopez accused the ref of doing so because he had a gambling problem (the assumption here is that he had money on Salido). Man, you just can't write this stuff.

Then yeah, I have seen it. I've also seen the fight with the Castro - Alberto, I think - where he goes down the early.

BTW, I read Lopez also incurred a suspension for his accusation about the Ref. Another oddity - was it father and son who reffed those fights?

Josh Warrington vs Kiko Martinez 2

    1 10-8 Warrington knockdown
    2 Warrington
    3 Martinez
    4 Warrington
    5 Warrington
    6 Warrington
    7 Warrington Wins by TKO

    59-54 Warrington

Live fight i literally just watched 2 minutes ago, Warrington started out like a whirling dervish hurt Martinez early and floored him. Then settled for boxing after the first 2 rounds. Martinez was never able to really make an impression on Warrington, Martinez also had multiple cuts on both eyes and on his forehead so it was a painful frustrating fight for Martinez. I also felt the stoppage was a good one and and stopped perfectly.

Overall a good comeback fight from Warrington, but some of his illegal tactics with shoulders, headbutts, elbows, did annoy me i have to say.

    Spence vs Brook

    1. 10-10 hard to score, Brook busy first half, Spence busy second half.
    2. 10-9 Brook, Spence jabs, then gets low and defensive, Brook keeping Spence honest.
    3. 10-9 Spence, Errol comes out aggressive then halfway through backs off for some reason. Close.
    4. 10-9 Brook, Brook generally wins exchanges, Spence sloppy and finds it hard to land clean.
    5. 10-9 Brook, Brook lands a huge right hand.
    6. 10-9 Brook, Brook continues to land big shots.
    7. 10-9 Brook, long stretches of nothing, Brook not landing much, Spence landing less.
    8. 10-9 Spence, Spence begins to land clean for the first time.
    9. 10-9 Spence, Brooks L eye is swelling fast. Seems to be a turning point, he's distracted by it. Big round for Spence.
    10. 10-8 Spence, Brook down on a barrage of ugly punches that don't land clean. Spence is an ugly puncher and he gets defensively careless when he has Brook on his heels.
    11. 10-8 Spence, Brook literally quit... Over the eye.

Final thoughts: Not impressed with Spence, he's a sloppy puncher who has real trouble landing clean punches. He lost most of the exchanges and would give ground for long stretches when he got tagged clean by Brook. As for Brook, he did well and was winning until that eye swelling got into his head. I think if you take that away, he wins. But in reality, we were dealing with a guy who quit when it got a little tough, so...

The guy is getting KOd again. Wood will do it, Lara will do it, Navarrete will do it; hell - Magsayo will probably do it.

His injury was more than just a little tough though to be honest.

I'm not aware of an injury... Was his orbital bone broken?
