But honestly, I shouldn't EVERYONE should know by now that Clev was what he was. A decent contender with a big punch, there has been a thousand threads berating and explaining his resume to forum new comers for people to know by now. Bit silly to beat the dead horse. not gonna derail your thread with my mischief you did some good work with your highlights! keep them coming.
I don't know why you think that's so bad. Especially when you consider, all three of his losses at that point were split decisions, and his last one was over 2 years prior. Within a year, he'd become a rated contender, and the best heavyweight of the mid-60s, not named Muhammad Ali. Like who? As I've explained, Rischer was ranked #9 months prior, and mysteriously dropped off despite not even having a fight. Miteff and Johnson had defeated a ranked Valdez not to long ago, were in their 20s, and would go on to have excellent performances against Ali. Holman was #4 just the previous year (may have even been as high as #3) and was involved in the tournament for Rocky's vacated championship.
Another fine upload. Mucho respect and appreciation. Always look forward to see Big Cats double up, triple up hooks on Sonny - and you didn’t disappoint. Tod Herring had some major moxie - no mistake, he was getting hit with extremely powerful shots but kept trying. I note the previous year, 1965, Patterson also secured a TKO 3 over Herring. Doesn’t appear to be any fight vision available on You Tube - I’d love to see that. As described, Floyd didn’t get Herring down as Williams did but integrated nice D before ultimately landing sufficiently hurtful punches for the ref to call a halt, as per SI Vault Article. I didn't notice as much watching it seperately, but watching it in a compilation, it's clear as day how much slower, and weaker (understandably) Williams is after getting shot, dying 6 times on the operating table, and suffering partial permanent paralysis.
Yeah, just coming back from that (wasted to about 155 lbs) let alone jumping back in the ring was amazing - and even though still somewhat viable, he clearly wasn’t the same Cleve, particularly not the one that boxed so well whilst trading bombs at speed with Liston.
Well, that’s a subjective view because it really comes down to the individual size of one’s own hamster - mine would require at least 70,000 litres before it even began taking on any water……..did I just type that? Yes I did.
Also don't you mean DEEP enough? If it's not shallow enough, it implies he has a rather extensive resume.
I knew what you meant but mentally noted the err, - but I didn’t want to be so DEEP as to highlight it. Haha, see what I did? Such self satisfaction, I think I might need to go and pat my hamster. Seriously kidding man, I always do a quick read of my posts to check for such things, grammar etc. (auto incorrect is killing me btw - yeah, I know, turn it off!) and even then they still get through. Poof reading is a must.
