    Correct, it was definitely a perfect shot. In the 3rd fight Tarver put Roy on ***** street with a right hook that arguably landed harder and more flush than the left from the 2nd fight and couldn't put Roy away. That left was a perfect shot in the sense that he couldn't duplicate it in their 3rd fight.

    That post was literally from over a decade ago.

    Jones reflex heavy style faded hard and fast, but he was something else in his prime. Tarver was good, but I don't think he'd beat a prime Jones.

    Jones also beat Tarver as 12-13 year old kids in the amateurs.
    I believe it was in 1982 or so.

    Nobody thinks that Roy was in his prime for Ruiz.

    Did you not see him barely beat Tarver in their first fight where he was completely exhausted?

    How was he not in decline?

    I think there’s about 5/6 months between them.

    Obviously Tarver had less miles on the clock, as he turned pro at 28/29.

    Considering that a faded version Roy beat him, a prime version of Roy would have been a big favourite.

    I think that Tarver was a good fighter though who would always have caused Roy issues.

    Ali's last two fights were ill advised but prior to that he was the Champ. Practically everybody takes a couple fights
    too many. Holmes, Sugar Ray Leonard, Holyfield, Wladimir, Wilder......

    Are you drunk? Jones was absolutely considered in his prime for Ruiz. There was even talk of him going for better HWs. Lets cut the crap. Tarver just had his number.

    A few minutes later Roy is flat on his back his eyes in separate orbit and spittle dribbling out of his mouth like a baba and when he managed to haul himself off the canvas he was so out of it he was wobbling around like a newborn foal.

    Unlike all those milkmen, dog trainers and traffic wardens Roy had fought prior to then Tarver actually believed in himself and that he could win and in addition to that he could crack a little bit and he knew that bird skull old lady mandible was always Roy's weakness and guess what folks he was proved right and that's all she wrote.

    He was considered in his prime at SMW.

    Tarver would always have been problematic with his attributes.

    No, he didn’t have his number. Otherwise he’d easily have beaten him 3 times.

    You’re asking me if I’m drunk, yet you are dismissing their whole first fight.

    Go and watch it and then tell me that he wasn’t on the decline.

    He was absolutely gassed despite the fight being fought at a slow pace.

    We’d never seen him like that before.
