Fighters with incredible power who didn't use it

David Izon was a solid puncher. He was the first fighter to knock Lou Savarese who is a pretty durable fighter. He easily knock him down flat on his feet with a punch that has good leverage in it, but sadly he never put any good leverage throughout his other fights. He threw more arm punches and just wore his opponent down more.

 

It seems to me that Tiger pulling his punches or "fighting conservatively" was a good thing really...especially from the viewpoint of one Rubin "Hurricane" Carter. Just look at the thrashing he gave the poor Hurricane. Why, if Mr. Tiger had gone all out vs Carter, he may have put him in the hospital....or worse.

 

But he was just the same.

 

I don't think so. This man was literally going all out and PUNISHING every single one of his opponents like they owned him money

I see where Barrf is coming from. Many times Lewis preferred to box at length rather than pound it out in close. He had such physical advantages, so why not as it is good strategy? Truly elite fighters played to their strengths, part of the reason it makes them elite.

 

He did seem to hold back on occasion s.
Maybe a little overly cautious,, after the Mccall disaster perhaps?
But when he got someone hurt or lined up in the cross hairs.. My god, he could hit.

 

That punching power surprised us all, with Kalambay.
That was unbelievable.

 

That one punch completely knocked Kalambay out unconscious. That doesn’t happen in too many fights if we think about it

 

Up until the Wilder rematch, you could say Tyson Fury.
