Jack Sharkey V Ernie Terrell ?

Terrell, despite being Tortured by Ali for 13 rounds of 15, he was actually a good fighter, he had a great jab and is massive, as well as much better than Carnera, Sharkey wouldn't pose more of a threat to Terrell than Williams.

Sharkey would probably last the distance tho

Hmmm....I begrudgingly pick Terrell because of his physical advantages but Sharkey can win this TBH.

 

Two dreadfully awkward and negative Fighters. Good luck selling it !

 

Sharkey could be very exciting, watch him against Dempsey.

 

Both of them had their moments but were well known as spoilers.

 

Terrell and not even close. Different level athlete. More consistent, too, tho the low ebb of his performances would be enough to take care of Jack.

Sharkey was more athletic than Terrell...

 

Sharkey is one of the more underrated Heavyweight Champions. He could really fight.

 

Terrell did in fact have some very good skills as has already been pointed out but he resorted all too often to spoiling Octopus tactics which were particularly effective against appreciably smaller opposition.


I like Sharkey and literally think he could be brilliant at times - but given Jack’s temperament and erratic application of himself - combined with Terrell’s heigh/reach advantages and spoiling grab, clutch and wrestle game - I also see an ugly, none too thrilling decision win for Ernie.

 

Sharkey would have been like a "white Machen" to Ernie, who would have outpointed the Gob in similar fashion...with Jack being utterly frustrated...almost to tears by Terrell.

 

Wouldn't matter at all.
