The dislike for Shields shouldnt cloud judgement.I remember plenty of people said Hammer would beat her and thst fight wasnt competitive for more than 60 seconds. I dont like her,she s a cow but she is good. I hope Marshall can catch her coming in but does she have those reflexes?
I like Marshall, she’s tall and strong, I’d love for her to knock out Shields, Marshall has already beaten Shields in the amateurs and that was the only defeat in her entire career...
Picking the more proven fighter, 3-weight world champ, clearly the better technical boxer means you have no clue about boxing? LOL
Disavow yourself of any of these notions as quickly as possible. Marshall would leave Hammer splattered all over the ring. This content is protected This content is protected The only reason why people were saying Hammer had a chance, and that includes very knowledgeable posters. Was because no one really knew what level Shields was operating on. Because let's be honest, the divisions they're fighting in and around, are garbage. So it was harder to properly assess. Well... now we know, and we also have a very accurate picture of just how good Marshall is, in direct comparison to Shields and Hammer, and it's several levels above.
I picked Shields to best Hammer at the time but thought it was going to be closer than it was. But I do recall many picking Hammer simply because she was more proven as you said Shields level really wasn't known at the time. I'm picking against Shields this time, Marshall is far, far better than Hammer, she has so many other skills. But I again think this won't be an easy fight for the winner. Maybe I am wrong and Marshall batters her but I think Shields has the skills to give Marshall problems. Herman's movement and counter punching gave Marshall some issues early on. Most fighters are forced to go at Marshall due to her height and reach but by making Marshall chase and lead made Marshall look less dominant than usual. I think Shields will do the same but with her speed and head movement she'll be far harder to get to. Marshall will need to break her down.
It’s a tough fight either way, Shields has convinced herself that she’s unbeatable and that sort of self belief is hard to punch out of an opponent. Shields has a strong skill set, she has good head movement coming in and she looks to swarm all over her opponent throwing a high volume of power shots from close in but it also exposes Claressa’s lack of power as she fails to stop her opponents despite landing some big punches. The cumulative effect of that has been enough to gain a points win In her fights so far but she’s done it against some very brittle opponents who don’t have the skills, endurance or power to change the flow of the fight. Marshall hasn’t fought anyone who will swarm he like Shields will but she certainly has the Boxing IQ to deal with it if, and it’s a big IF, Shields can get up close on her. My thoughts are that the price for getting in close will be too high as Marshall will catch her with big shots as she comes in. It won’t matter whether those shots land on the chin or the body, Shields will feel them and it will discourage Shields from bum rushing Marshall to get in close. The problem for Claressa then is that Marshall has the reach, skills and power to first punish and then take her out from distance. Shields doesn’t have the power to stop Marshall who has a good chin but Marshal certainly has the power to drop Shields with one shot or a cumulation of power shots. IMO it’ll be a hard fight, Marshall will definitely have some uncomfortable moments in the fight but ultimately Marshall will stop Shields! Marshall by KO
