that cringe Mr Bean seems more involved than ever now. whos really in charge of sky boxing? they are worse than the bbc now for all their diversity tick lists lol. with their two recent signings of the lesbian couple lauren price & kariss arginstall, Half of boxxxers stable is women
Sky banging on far too long and far too frequent about all that racism shyte as well - makes the problem worse as people rebel against it being shoved down the throat every football match. Islamic terrorists etc kill innocent people yet their lives don't seem to matter on Sky. Keep politics out of sport and every life should matter.
To be fair Matchroom had years of experience when they got the exclusive deal 10 years ago, Sky only really had to fund it and put up the media side of things. Boxxer has done little more than single tournament shows until this year so you can understand Sky being a bit more closely involved. Assume it's a bit more than just Adam Smith and there's an actual investment plan from the Sky Sports corporate side.
To be fair to Smith he cut short Khan's claim of racism at Brook press conference over the poppadom chin comment. He told them to leave it out and focus on the fight
Honestly, I can not understand that people are starting to make big demands on Boxxer. They had their first Sky Sports show in October 2021 and it's going to take time. I know Boxxer / Sky Sports has several big announcements on the way. Let's see what the boxing landscape looks like in 12 months time.
Ultimately, it is the TV company that decides which fights they are willing to pay for. This is how it works all over the world. Boxxer is not just Ben Shalom. They have other very talented people involved.
This. They realised early on that Bens a nice guy and know a bit about boxing but is unbelievably bland with zero charisma which doesn’t help when you’re trying to promote and get people to watch. smith has turned into the mouthpiece promoter but doesn’t have much conviction as he’s a company man. they need to employ someone as Bens right hand man that can sell to the public. Someone like Sam Jones would have been perfect.
I think you're misunderstanding. For Boxxer / Sky Sports, it is not about having a front man who considers himself to be bigger than the boxers.
Sam Jones is terrible. Ben will grow into it, I agree he's not a natural salesman but after another year or so I think he'll turn out good as he comes across as honest. Maybe a right hand man will work as a double act but u don't want to go to an extreme. Someone like Ben but a bit more outgoing.
Boxxer has several people in the background who have more than 20 years of experience in the professional boxing game.
