In three-minute rounds, I would favor Marshall clearly. But in two-minute rounds, Shields is going to be flurrying with a lot of energy and undoubtedly racking up points with judges. If she can stay on her feet, she's going to have a chance to win. I think people are overlooking how much of a factor the round difference is. It isn't merely one less minute; it changes the amount of energy the fighters can expend over the course of the fight. This is a big problem in women's boxing because it overly rewards volume punchers. And what is Shields? A volume fighter.
There is no doubt at all Shields throws much better combos than Marshall. Hand speed is natural but can also be trained and used to its fullest. Marshall got tagged a good few times in the first 2 rounds last night. When her opponents throw they can land on her
I am really hoping for this to happen. Seeing that moron Shields KO'd would be comedy gold and something tells that with her inflated ego that she will be quite the sore loser.
Yep have to agree I can't stand Shields she is a complete muppet but she is obviously a good skilled boxer but like most female fighters she has no power Marshall on the other hand seems to have freakish power for a woman that is why I favor Marshall 60/40
Savannah is going to beat the **** out of Clarissa In the words of Carl The Cobra Froch TOO BIG TOO STRONG
Shields establishes ascendancy in her fights and then round after round just plays out the same- she can't build on that to go further ie stop her opponent. That's why her fights are often a little boring. Marshall, on the other hand, has both the IQ and the tools to construct a stoppage. She feels out her opponent, gets into a rhythm, establishing her jab, then steadily cranks up both the power and intensity and pretty soon her opponent is being battered around the ring, overwhelmed. When she's really flowing, as she was eg in the last few rounds against Rankin, it's awesome to watch. Towards the end of the 3rd round against Hermans, the Belgian was just starting to get beaten up and if the hook hadn't landed, a stoppage was upcoming in the next round.
People keep on saying this is the boxer vs the puncher. Marshall is a fantastic boxer. Great footwork, decent head movement, good jab, and great power punches.
No,,,,,,,,,,,,shields will make a fool of Savanah. It's not going to be close. Landslide points decision IF shields doesnt completely frustrate her and make her quit.
Would be a decent increase in pre-fight hype, if not for the fact that Shields likely saw death there.
