Shields is dying soon. She was already mentally bullied during that stand off.

I have never seen either of them fight.

So I must judge by their names.

Savannah should be able to Marshall her way around the ring with her size. Clarissa goes out on her Shields.

So my money will go on a draw so they can milk a UK vs USA trilogy.

I don't box true never pretended to but I am a long time fan of the sport and am fascinated by the technical aspects of the sport and want to understand why one fighter beats another. Which is why I tried to engage you in a discussion on technique. I wasn't trying to prove you wrong in fact I started my initial post saying I agreed with you as it wasn't conventional technique.

But for some reason you think me trying to have a discussion with you is me trying to come across smarter? Whatever dude, you might not realise it but you are trying to support your point of view by disparaging me rather than coming up with valid points of your own. That's weak dude, clearly I was mistaken when thinking I could have an insightful discussion on technique, lesson learned, I won't try to do that again with you.

I'm not trying to disparage you (my criticism wasn't of you to begin with, but of YouTube analysts misreading unpunished missteps as demonstrations of refined skill). My point was you're making something more complicated than it needs to be, whether because you're plain overthinking or just being a smartass (my apologies, I should've gone with "or" first go 'round, instead of the more assumptive "and").

Some things just are what they are and aren't all that deep. There isn't an endless stream of valid points to make about it. Yes, uncommon talents can cast fundamentals to the wind and make it pay off big. That happens (though, they typically pay some kind of price for it in the end). Savannah Marshall is not the kind of talent you're referring to, even if she does stand out from the women around her weight. That clip is just a clip of a boxer doing something wrong, which some dumbass with a laptop and some basic video editing ability has construed as something else.

I'd actually considered this outcome a couple days back.

Apologies also to any fans of Gabbana Stanshall I may have rubbed the wrong way. (I'll endeavor to come up with some puerile pet name for Claressa that I and only I find amusing. How do we feel about Odessa Swords?)

Do I detect the preparing of a narrative for a Wilder-like excuse for Shields losing?

That may not have been your aim but that's what you did, you questioned the value if my worth because I haven't boxed and then claimed I was simply trying to sound smart.

As for the that clip, I distinctly remember moments in the fight when Marshall crossed her feet and thinking that wasn't done as some error or some aspect of her poor technique or doing something wrong as you put it. I think it was a very deliberate move on her part. Not only is it quicker which allowed Marshall to keep her opponent directly in front of her it also means if Herman's had suddenly changed direction as Marshall stepped over, the rear foot can be swung further and changed to a pivot keeping Herman's again directly in front of Marshall. While if she had moved normally, the lead foot would first have to be placed down and only then can Marshall pivot off that foot and that small about of time lost can be the difference between trapping an opponent or them getting away.

But maybe it was just a mistake on her part and I am looking too deeply into it but I don't think so. Marshall does a lot of very subtle technical things that many other boxers don't, men included and so I doubt it's just a flaw or mistake in her technique.

I would say Marshall to edge it but how people are writing of Shields amazes me.

Yeah that surprises me too. I'm picking Marshall but don't think it will be easy at all. But too many see the power and how she's wiped the floor with the same opponents because of that power and think it will be the same when she's in the ring with Shields.

I think Shields can win, Herman's made Marshall look less impressive by moving and countering and Shields is very adept in those departments. If anyone can beat Marshall it's Shields.

She is or at least seems to be in the context of women’s boxing.

I'm not about to trawl the whole fight. The sequence in the video is what I was addressing, and it speaks for itself. Whether conscious or not (I never argued that it absolutely wasn't conscious, but that's by the by), what she's doing there isn't aiding her in any way. It's certainly not allowing for "More Natural Fluid Movement", which was the point to begin with. Within boxing fundamentals, there is some room for variation/comfort/improvisation, but at no time do you perform the maneuver she's performing there and end up better off for having done so. You can, however, end up worse off for having done so.

(Kindly advise as to whether it would be perceived as contemptuous or disparaging of me to add the laughing emoticon to the end of the last sentence — the idea of her 'footwork' in that sequence being beneficial is giving me cause to snicker, but I don't want to offend.)

Pure relativism. The level is pitifully low.
