I know they reckon they've sold 94k tickets but it wouldn't surprise me if the stands were half empty. These 'coach tickets' that are taking up thousands of seats are daft. It's Wembley not Outer Mongolia, people are capable of making their own way. Had a quick look on Twitter and your ticket is only valid if you actually get on a coach (you can't choose your location until after you have bought the ticket) but a lot of the coach set off points are all booked so people are having to travel miles out their way just to get on a coach or they won't be allowed in. People from London being told they have to come up north to get on a coach to get access to the stadium. Recipe for disaster me thinks. This event has been a shambles from start to finish.
I think having to get on the coach to get the ticket is pretty standard. Not knowing/choosing you’re pick up point before buying the ticket however is bonkers.
These are the only reason I am sceptical about the attendance announcements. These are notoriously difficult to shift as a promoter. I dont think i have ever heard all the coach packages selling out. Even the coach packages for big football cup finals etc are tricky to shift. To have apparently shifted all of the coach packages in a matter of hours seems fishy
I know he's got a deal with BT but I reckon this is the final nail in the coffin. If he does do those numbers he's ruined and if Tyson retires he's got nobody. Joyce is old and Yarde is the biggest can crusher in boxing. Neither man has pull.
Has it really been a shambles? Ok the undercard is poor and it’s annoying touts picked up lots of tickets.. but the main event is good, it’s a big fight in the UK and at Wembley. Should be a good night.
When one of the fighters is nowhere to be seen I’d say it’s a bit of a shambles. Undercard dreadful as you say and tickets seemed to have been snapped up by touts.
It's a bit annoying as Whyte taking part would be something to talk about.. but in itself it's a bit of a talking point. Touts only snap up tickets if they think there's demand, so there's clearly big appetite in the boxing public for this fight. I'd try to look at the positives - it's a big British fight at Wembley and not on at 4am.
A coach company buys tickets from Frank Warren. Sells them for cash. Puts it through the bank. An empty coach turns up at Wembley the night of the fight.
I believe a certain amount of tickets need to be locked in with coach travel at the say so of Brent Council.
