Gennady Golovkin vs. Artur Beterbiev if both were the same size.

He once burst a speedbag according to Joe Gallagher, and has KOed Callum Smith in sparring. While they were there together, they would've been regular sparring partners but Johnson was essentially to strong and powerful for Smith.

It's a shame we never saw Callum Johnson against Joe Smith Jr earlier this year.

I fancied Callum to win that fight in a slugfest.

Does not matter the size. Great fighters don’t use size as an excuse. Canelo does not but Lil G is a bully who likes fighting smaller guys.

Actually he was ranked #9 by The Ring a couple of years ago and he turned pro in 2013, has only had 17 fights, and his career has been blighted with inactivity, whereas Big G turned pro in 2006 and has had 42 fights

Beterbiev has fought plenty of punchers for someone who's only had 17 pro fights and he's about to fight another huge puncher next

Those hooks of Callum Johnson's could fell a tree

Beterbiev is one of those fighters who has shared a ring with Seanie in the gym

    This content is protected

Gvozdyk is obviously a very hard puncher and is a highly skilled boxer

Hot Rod had as many first round finishes (13 ) as Artur had fights when they fought each other

Tavoris Cloud was a legit banger. Campillo said that he was the hardest puncher he'd fought, albeit this was before he fought Beterbiev and he amended that after doing so.

Prieto hurt Alvarez with single shots more than Smith did. Granted Smith took Alvarez out with a vicious right hand but that was an Alvarez who'd taken a real beating and lots of seriously heavy blows prior to the finish.

How many punchers have P4P top tenners Crawford and Spence fought in their 38 and 27 fights respectively, let alone ones their own size? I'll wait

LHW has been Banger Central for the last decade

The three are or were all arguably top 5 P4P biggest punchers in the sport

    Kovalev
    Stevenson
    Beterbiev

So this notion that Beterbiev is glass-chinned and a ''KO waiting to happen'' is nonsense.

It's even funnier reading nonsense on social media thinking a 5ft7 juiced up Canelo will one punch KO Beterbiev

As you know, I feel Beterbiev is past his best now but people act like he hasn't fought a lot of big punchers amateur and pro and like getting dropped by a Callum Johnson hook is evidence of a weak chin

Beterbiev was giving away a stone in weight when he campaigned up at HW in the amateurs and he was the physically stronger guy who had those natural HWs looking uncomfortable

What the hell you on about GGG ‘can’t throw short shots’?

Most of his Ko’s have come from savage short hooks and straight counters to head and body.

GGG's best KO was a short liver shot against Macklin, FFS. This guy doesn't know what he's talking about.

If Beterbiev and GGG did fight, one man would eventually be forced to go backwards. And that man would be GGG. And Golovkin is uncomfortable fighting going backwards.

Now, even if they were the same size, Beterbiev is still p4p the stronger rman. If they ever actually did share the ring in their primes GGG is receiving a beatdown. He WILL be moved backwards by Beterbiev and busted up.

I think it would be a real man business affair with nukes aplenty flying in both directions.

I've never quite understood the Beterbiev is a crude, brutish brawler accusations that are common with these boxing hipsters. Anybody who doesn't fight on their toes and bounce around the ring or hug and hump their opponent to death like Hopkins is a crude brawler.

Beterbiev is skilled. Is he Usyk in the skill department? No, but he's definitely as skilled technically as the average world champ. If not more. I actually believe Beterbiev is more skilled than Golovkin. Call me crazy, but Beterbiev is defensively more responsible than Golovkin. Ever notice how disciplined Beterbiev is with his guard? He's constantly got his guard up. Something as simple as putting your hands up after throwing a punch is so effective. It's not flashy, but it works.

They said the same thing about GGG and Kovalev too at one time - that they lacked skill and couldn't box. They were wrong then too

I don't know if I would say that but Marcus Browne is a fast, rangy, slick southpaw but he landed very little of consequence on Beterbiev whose tight guard was difficult to penetrate.

This. Browne isn't the 2nd coming of Whitaker. But he was a prime, slick, fast, big for the division southpaw. If Beterbiev was a big stiff idiot he'd have been made to look like a drunk in the ring against Browne. Instead we see a guy cut the ring off, destroy Browne's body, and fold him up easy. All while taking not that many shots of consequence himself.

It's not easy to KO a guy who is running away from you the whole time out of a southpaw stance. Especially when you're 37. That takes a lot of skill to do that. It just does.
