Pernell Whitaker floored him, and i know he was floored early in his career in the 1st round. But i can't remember the fighter who did it.
Quartey did drop him, however. He knocked him down with a counter left hook in the 6th. DLH did have a damn good chin, though.
I can remember who it was against but early in his prospect days he was dropped unexpectedly which prompted a change in trainers, possibly his first.
That Quartey lefthook was the first time he realized that he can't run over these welterweights the same way he did at @130-40lbs opponents. I think that bout changed him going forward. He was still good but never settled on a style of fighting. One extreme to another. Slugging or using his legs too much. Changing trainers often.
Oscar had so much going for him, really a perfect fighting specimen. I liked his upstream work but if he could’ve plausibly stayed lower and just stuck with a trainer he would’ve been so much more. I think. A fight with Tszyu would’ve been fabulous, something something Vince Phillip…
He had alot of success but he never found that balance between brawling and boxing. Maybe the Vargas fight was the closest he got. Oscar was wound tight.
There wwre some guys early in his csreer thst put him down. Maybe I’m mistaken but disnt Patrick Charpantier put him down?
