Harvey, McAvoy, Gilroy, Turpin vs Eubank, Benn, Watson, Collins... would be the ultimate British Middleweight cum S-MW showdown, the two best Era's against the best middleweights in each of them.
No he wouldn't have and you know that. He didn't hit anywhere close to Barkley and he wasn't fast either so what would Nunn worry about? Nunn would actually stop him late.
He was freaking 13-0 and he evolved how ? Why do you think Haglers trainers stopped working with him? Because he had gone as far as he was going to go. Kalambay was SHOT to pieces when he fought Steve and Steve STILL lost. MCcallum laid off the gas but lets no mistake it for what it was - an outclassed fighter who gave it his all but never came close to beating MCcallum. Nothing wrong with that - Collins did the best he could. But the problem I have is now he's some ducked warrior that was denied his shot because he was so "dangerous" when that its remotely close. Roy Jones would have taken his head off inside 5 rounds EASILY and everyone acts like Steve had some chance ?Steve wasn't as fast as Jones. Didn't have the power like Jones. What exactly was he going to beat Jones with?
Collins was a faster counter puncher than Barkley, check his fights with Kalambay, Johnson and McCallum out.
Benn was shot when Collins beat him granted but Eubank certainly wasn't he had just given one of the best performances of career against Wharton before the first Collins fight.
Agreed, Benn doesn't even have much of a puncher's chance because McCallum easily has the chin to handle his punches even if Benn does land.
I agree but Eubank also lost his killer instinct after Watson 2, the old Eubank before Watson 2. Might of finished off Collins in the 10th round of their first fight. Just like Eubank had few opportunities, to finish off Thompson in their 1st fight but held off
Not easily, Benn`s power at 160 was devastating and McCallum was hurt by Curry and Jackson at 154, Benn had far more power than Curry.
Eubank was never the same after Watson 2. It's just a fact. I've watched all his fights and its a shame but he just was no longer the fighter he was after that fight. And let's remember he had Collins ready to go and Eubank just stood there. Bit who would be the same after the punishment he took in Watson 2 plus the tragic result? Or the punishment he absorbed in the Benn fight? Age is a number in boxing. Its the punishment taken in bouts plus number of bouts that add up. The body can only take so much. Collins vs pre Watson 2 Eubank would beat Chris how? He isn't knocking Eubank out. He isn't going to out speed Eubank.
Shows Sr’s scarring to this day from what happened to Watson https://mobile.twitter.com/talkSPORT/status/959453251656613888?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw%7Ctwcamp%5Etweetembed%7Ctwterm%5E959453251656613888%7Ctwgr%5E%7Ctwcon%5Es1_&ref_url=https%3A%2F%2Fpublish.twitter.com%2F%3Fquery%3Dhttps3A2F2Ftwitter.com2FtalkSPORT2Fstatus2F959453251656613888widget%3DTweet He definitely showed mercy to opponents many times post-Watson It would’ve taken something very special to out box a fit Sr from an orthodox stance, but you could go at him to out work him knowing he probably wouldn’t go in to end it if you got rocked on the way in!
