No love for Ricardo Lopez yet? Il Finito?

Here goes. Here's some nicknames to match up with fighters mentioned. No use of Google, honest. Just focussed my mind but thought it might be fun.

    El Terrible
    El Barreta (Baby-faced assassin)
    Canas
    El Puas
    Dinamita
El Cesar de Boxeo/El Gran Campeon Mexicano/El Leon de Culiacan/Superstar (trust this guy to hold multiple titles)
    El Maestro
    Zurdo de Oro
    Canelo

    Chavez has a lot - El Gran Campeon, The Lion of Culaican, JC Superstar etc;

Olivares mostly goes by Puas. People call him that in person, he also signs it. It means spikes in reference to his spiky hair.

Canas for Zárate. Canas as in canes (sugar canes due to his skinny legs, a name that stuck since his youth).

El Zurdo de Oro (The golden lefty) for Saldivar.

Chava for Sanchez, Chava is a common nickname for the name Salvador.

Baby Faced Assassin for Barrera. Finalist for Marquez. El Maestro for Canto, The Master.

True. I've agreed with Chris on the top 7 but here are 8 honourable mentions from fairly recent times as I don't stretch back that far. Most of these could make a top 7 and not look completely ridiculous.

    Erik Morales
    Lupe Pintor
    Jose Luis Ramirez
    Miguel Canto
    Canelo Alvarez
    Jose Luis Lopez
    Chiquita Gonzalez
    Ricardo Lopez

Never got why anyone would ever have called Barrera 'Baby-Faced'. He was born looking 30. To be fair, he looks about 35 now. Aging well but I bet he never got asked for ID.

    2. Saul Alvarez
    3. Ruben Olivares
    3. Salvador Sanchez
    5. Carlos Zarate

I think he could have a place in there, yes, I personally think he’s 10 or 11, but 7 or 8 seems reasonable too. There’s not a lot between many of these greats.

Exactly, they have SO many greats. So, coming up with the Hard 7 is really what I'm in for. Also, will sprinkle in a little history in the video to show why "the Mexican style" of boxing really became a style of its own. 7 is a solid list, not really seen often, and it will give me the excuse to bring out "Los Siete Magnificos " as a play of the topic and subject. lol
