Holmes really did have an arm injury when he fought Norton.

Machen's mental state started deteriorating after the Williams bout not before. He knew the draw eliminated any chances he had of a title shot, and was already on edge. The last straw was when he didn't have enough money to buy presents for his children, and I believe nobody would lend him money which led to him I believe to attempt suicide, and committed to a mental asylum where he knocked out two guards who tried to restrain him.

Cleveland Williams is a tragic figure in boxing imo. The man had so much bad luck, and just when it looked like it was starting to turn around, with him earning a shot at the WBA championship, he gets shot!

Seems the consensus in real time, was Williams was the harder puncher than Liston but Liston infinitely more dangerous.

I don't know, I mean an excuse is only legitimate if its proven to be the cause of the loss right.

So Lewis lost twice both times had an excuse and both times avenged the losses.

There's loads of losses from fighters I don't hold against them. Particularly teenage and once performance has notably declined.

I heard Oscar Bonavena had Ali not broken the rules could’ve derailed the FOTC. Crazy stuff.

Are you saying he wasn’t found with a suicide note before Williams?

You heard wrong. Their was no chance Bonavena was derailing anything. He was already down on the cards, and on his way to losing the 15th as well before Ali’s “illegal tactics”.
