Just an interesting article I found on Junlong, sparring with Hunter. https://k.sina.com.cn/article_5559864694_14b64cd7600100z1q4.html Also, apparently, Junlong really has KOd Zhilei multiple times in the amateur ranks.
Yeah, unfortunately his wife passed away. But recently he called out the MMA fighter Chimaev, and Chinese media is pushing that Junlong could defeat Fury and Usyk out of nowhere. He is apparently in the USA training at the Mayweather gym now.
I am sorry to hear that. Fury and Usyk may not be around much longer. Maybe he could get a shot at one of the vacant belts.
Is this the guy that I read about a couple of years ago who has never had a fight that wasn’t behind closed doors? It would be great to see some footage of him to gauge if he has it or not. At his age though, even if he has the skills to do something worthwhile, time is definitely not on his side.
Zhilei is terrible though, so knocking him out in the amateur ranks means nothing at all This guy needs to fight in public, nobody knows him yet
Didn't those guy age? It's been forever, since we were reading about the two almighty Chinese HW's that will rule the division. And we basically didn't see a **** for the past 10 years from them.
Zhilei looks like a 60 year old construction laborer nowadays, he gasses inside a minute and cannot take a punch. He should not be licensed to box
I don’t know what Michael Hunter is up to, don’t even think Junlong is a real boxer. He has no amateur record on boxrec. He had this atrocity of a bout with former cruiserweight titlist Victor Emilio Ramirez which was so obviously staged and seems to be removed from boxrec. I really don’t buy that he KOd Zhilei in the amateurs.
Well Zhilei did beat Ruiz, Parker and Dychko as an amateur. So he was a pretty good amateur, besides winning Olympic and World Champion amateur medals
I spoke to another Chinese national boxing champion, Yunlong Shi, who confirmed to me that Junlong was a national boxing champion, but a long time ago (In the late 90s and early 2000s). Also besides this source, Junlong himself told me he defeated Zhilei, and now I have confirmation, although the source isn't the least sketchy admittedly.
