I agree on all points. The bomber has faster hands than Holmes who is anything but a slouch.
He also punched in combination sickeningly well.

Hey thanks Pugguy i appreciate it mate.

I sorta had so many lengthy debates in here 15 or so years ago i burnt out on them. If a topic really gets my juices flowing i dive in a bit but try and keep it a little shorter than i once did. Of course there's sometimes that guy or discussion you just want to get the better of too

You and Swag had some good discussions recently too. You've been like a breath of fresh air in here and a couple of posters have noted that to me. Keep up the good work.

Yeah Warnie's send off was amazing! I missed the very end but will catch it up. Apparently they put it together in a few days or something? Belies belief really.

He was a goer for sure and he's one of those guys that can get away with that ego as you allude. I was impressed when he went on that crazy I'm a Celebrity Get Me Out of Here. From memory he shirked nothing and did some disgustingly difficult things that a man of his standing sure didn't have to do.

    As for Flynn, welllllllllll

There's just not much you post that i even remotely disagree with so you must be good!!!! Call me Shane!!!!

    Haha, cheers.

We’ve all had the “angry young man” debates going back in time. LOL. Then we mellow a bit, but then a new generation of “angry young men” come along - and it stokes the old fires, ha.

The Errol comparison might’ve been a bit strong but then again, if Warnie didn’t erase but instead kept all recordings and still shots on his phone, that would fetch a nice sum at auction. For the likes of even Sam Newman to be taken aback by the revelations on Warnie’s phone - well, that’s really saying something! :zlumi: (not even sure about this emoji, but hey, what the hell!)

    True enough

Oh Warnie was all about sex. It wouldn't be completely absurd to say he chased it even harder than Test wickets. I don't watch it but the recent Big Brother has multiple celebs claiming he'd hit them up and in quite straight forward ways from what i glazed over. Even as a celeb it would get you/he a helluva lot of knock backs but at the same time you/he would be scoring plenty that you/he otherwise wouldn't.

It was surprising, but great, IMO, that Sam mentioned that

The candour displayed in the farewell really made it that much more special….

Yeah, no harm putting the hard word on (sans being offensive and any harassment and stalking post clear rejection ) or casting a big net……Hurley was a premium catch and she’s still looking fine to this day…..Warnie, a fisher of women……they call it sex addiction these days but us blokes just call it normal…..

I’ll “refrain” from the old chestnut: “Bowling a Maiden Over” - of course, that’s exactly how you preface a comment that you actually want to sneak in….

I’ll shut up now…but wait, another Aussie sportsman I like - golfer Cameron Smirh, replete with Mullet, - reminds me of “Joe Dirt”, David Spade, he wouldn’t have been out of place as a chill golfing character in Happy Gilmore - he was cracking it in the Masters until he went into the drink on that last round, Par 3, oh well, always next year……..the dude that won throughly deserved it, an absolute machine…

Ironically you are probably mostly right per "normal". If all males could reel it in as prodigiously as some celebs there'd be a HELLUVA lot more labelled, or is it accused, of being sex addicts. I've seen it plenty of times even where i am - NRL teams come up and play in the pre season warm up games and the women just launch themselves at them. One could only imagine how hard that would be to resist week in, week out. We've seen quite a few married ones, famous even, latch on for the night. This is just one little night in a small city and half the big names might not even come up. Imagine the season long "grind". So many have been caught out but i think it would pale as to how many haven't been. I shudder to imagine the stress of being married to these type of figures.

But yes, The Mullet, he missed the few chances he had. A couple of birdies straight up nullified by a boge at the same time Scottie gets, in reality, very lucky with that chip in. That chip hitting the pin, hard, was probably a two shot turnaround for Scottie. He quite likely would have had a similar putt to Smith. Woeful tee sot into Rae's Creek too of course. At the end of the day, as you say, Scottie just deserved it. The streak he is on from where he came from is beyond incredible to say the least.

And yes, i lean toward Joe Louis by stoppage just to shut the door on the slim chance of "that guy" wanting to have his 30 seconds in the sun.

If Larry fights like he did that night he'll win.

I'd pick Larry, but it would be really close, since as someone mentioned before, Louis' style is reminiscent of Norton who gave both Larry and Ali fits.

Larry is probably my favorite fighter, but Louis is perhaps the only fighter I can see stopping him.

Louis would be foozled by the left and probably look bad early on, but both the right and Joe's stunning combinations stop him by the 10th.

Holmes via wide UD ( like 10 rounds to 5 ) or Holmes via late round tko.

Regarding Louis puncher’s chance, Holmes had an excellent chin tested by Ernie Shavers and Jerry Cooney and Holmes was nobody’s fool in the ring. You’d rarely catch Holmes resting on the ropes or doing something stupid or showing off like the Ali shuffle. Did holmes ever punch himself out or gas? No way. He had 15 round stamina . Stuff like this further limits the punchers chance. And the footspeed between the reach difference between the two further limit Louis chances.

As said, Louis is skilled enough to get to Holmes n hurt him as lesser of Holmes opponents have done. He is also an arguably greater finisher than Tyson albeit that was against a past prime Holmes.

I can also see Holmes giving him fits but assuming its a 15 rd fight I don't think its safe to assume he'd dance n jab all night. He has the reach n skills to do so but I can also see Louis sneaking in body shots to slow him down too.

Interesting fight I really need this on Undisputed. Louis is already confirmed so that's great news. Hoping 4 Moore, Bowe n Holmes too but honestly not holding my breath.

Louis is terrible in H2H matchups most of the time, but I would give him a distinct edge in this one.

If Norton could nearly beat a prime Holmes, Louis would probably knock him out.

Louis had great combinations, good mix of speed and balance , and was a very hard puncher. His Jab was near outstanding so Holmes would be stynied quite a bit.

Joe will narrow the distance and light Larry up.

Joe Louis Ko's Holmes in 11 rounds.

I think Larry Holmes would give Joe Louis problems early in the fight, but I see Joe Louis coming on later. I am picking Joe Louis to win, by late stoppage or close decision win.
